While The Witcher remains CD Projekt Red’s flagship RPG franchise, the studio has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 has become its primary revenue generator after selling more than 35 million copies in just under five years. Cyberpunk 2077 now leads the company’s earnings.
In a recent commentary on the company’s quarterly financial results, chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz verified the new milestone and noted that Cyberpunk’s post-launch performance outpaced The Witcher 3 over the same timeframe. He emphasised that the title is now the studio’s main source of revenue and that the company continues to broaden its platform reach.
Despite the game’s presence on PlayStation’s subscription service, the company reported stronger organic sales of Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty year-on-year on existing platforms, indicating the PlayStation Plus listing did not undercut traditional sales. The Switch 2 version also provided a clear sales lift.
Overall, this milestone represents a major triumph for the studio — one made possible by the team’s extensive efforts to rehabilitate the game after its well-documented rocky launch.
Looking ahead, Nielubowicz highlighted The Witcher 4‘s nomination for The Game Awards 2025’s “Most Anticipated Game” category, noting that the nomination reflects strong public interest even before a full marketing campaign has begun.
Cyberpunk series creator Mike Pondsmith says he’s watching Cyberpunk 2 closely at CDPR, just like he did with 2077: “People have been showing me what they’re doing.”
