It’s still very early to speculate about Sandfall’s next release — Clair Obscur only launched a few months ago — and the studio is relatively small, with roughly 30 employees. That scale naturally limits how quickly they can move between projects compared to larger AAA teams.
On top of that, Sandfall recently announced a major content drop for Clair Obscur to celebrate five million copies sold: a new location, additional late‑game bosses, and other enhancements — all of which have kept the team busy.
Still, it’s encouraging to hear Broche and his colleagues remain open to any creative direction. Developers often produce their most memorable work when they aren’t following a fixed playbook, and for an independent studio like Sandfall, that freedom can yield standout experiences — Clair Obscur being a prime example.
I’m not confident enough at Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to take on the latest update yet, so I’m diving back into the JRPG to face my biggest challenge.
