Cross-Play – A Quick Guide to Get Started

Activating Cross-Play and Adding Friends

If you wish to team up with friends across different regions, you’ll need everyone in your group to link their platform accounts to their Larian Account.

Visit https://larian.com/account/connected to connect your account. Simple, right? After that, ensure cross-play is enabled in the game settings for everyone.

  1. Select “Options” on the Main Menu
  2. In the Gameplay tab, scroll to “Allow Cross-Play”
  3. Check the box

Now, add your friends on the Larian Network to invite them to join the game.

  1. Log in from the Main Menu using the “Larian Account” button at the bottom right
  2. Once logged in, click “Manage Account” on the Main Menu’s bottom right
  3. Select “Friends List”
  4. Ask your friend for their Larian Account username
  5. Click “Add Friends” and enter their username
  6. Send a friend request
Hosting, Creating, and Joining a Cross-Play Lobby

To have friends join an existing campaign, ensure the desired save has cross-play enabled.

  1. Select “Load Game” on the Main Menu
  2. Choose the savegame, and enable cross-play using the “Cross-Play” checkbox
  3. Load the savegame
  4. Navigate to “Multiplayer” and invite your friend

To kick off a new game with your party, create a cross-play multiplayer lobby:

  1. Select “Multiplayer” on the Main Menu
  2. Go to the “Cross-Play” tab
  3. Click “Create”
  4. Invite your friends
  5. Customize your settings and hit “Launch”

To join another player in multiplayer via cross-play:

  1. Select “Multiplayer” on the Main Menu
  2. Choose the “Cross-Play” tab
  3. Join the desired player’s lobby
  4. If any mods have discrepancies between you or the host, the Mod Verification window will notify which mods need updating, installing, or uninstalling

Remember, if you’re playing on PC with a modded save while friends on console or Mac join you, ensure the save doesn’t exceed 100 mods and all enabled mods are available to them. Use the “Available on Mac and Console” filter option in the Mod Browser or check for this tag on the mod’s details page.

If you’re more of a visual learner, we’ve released another comprehensive video on accessing cross-play! View it below.

New Subclasses: To Be Or Not To Be

Need help deciding on your next subclass? We’re revisiting the basics to guide you.

Path of the Giant Barbarian

Available from Level 3, these Barbarians harness power from the giants, increasing their physical prowess. Perfect for delivering mighty kicks or tossing bewildered allies at foes.

College of Glamour Bard

Also accessible at Level 3, Bards from the College of Glamour learn from the fey, making them unrivaled in charm and persuasion. Use your skills to defend allies or control foes.

Death Domain Cleric

Drawing faith from the forces of death, these Clerics can animate the deceased. Opt for this class to explore a darker path, using abilities like corpse detonation from Level 1.

Circle of Stars Druid

If you’re drawn to the stars, the Circle of Stars Druid is for you. Align with constellations and, from Level 2, assume a Starry Form for advanced combat and healing abilities.

Arcane Archer Fighter

Starting at Level 3, Arcane Archer Fighters integrate magic into archery. This elven technique ensures accuracy isn’t required—send your foes to the Feywild with a Banishing Arrow.

Way of the Drunken Master Monk

Master this art at Level 3, where Monks disguise skillful strikes within a facade of inebriation. Regain Ki by consuming alcohol, blending humor with combat effectiveness.

Oath of the Crown Paladin

Available from Level 1, this subclass compels Paladins to uphold order and make commitments—choose wisely, as maintaining promises is key.

Swarmkeeper Ranger

If you rely on group strength, opt for the Swarmkeeper Ranger. From Level 3, ally with wild creatures, using their might in exchanges brimming with nature’s fury.

Swashbuckler Rogue

For those captivated by pirate life, the Swashbuckler Rogue offers combat elegance. From Level 3, engage opponents with agility and strategy before they can react.

Shadow Magic Sorcerer

Explore the secrets of shadow magic, drawing power from the Shadowfell from Level 1. Harness shadows to teleport and summon illusions, crafting an atmospheric playthrough.

Hexblade Warlock

Bound to a sentient weapon from the Shadowfell, start with a Hexed weapon. Upon defeating cursed foes, raise Accursed Spectres to slash through enemies, channeling power and health.

Bladesinging Wizard

If you’re enchanted by the fusion of swords and spells, choose the Bladesinging Wizard. From Level 2, perform magical duels with elegance, dealing damage while healing allies.
