Looking toward The Witcher 3, Badowski felt that the same branching structure wouldn’t suit the team’s more sandbox-driven vision. He says the studio prioritized systems and content that strengthened the open world, choosing to invest in world-building rather than create mutually exclusive narrative routes.

He added that the core challenge was delivering a vast open-world game while preserving Geralt’s compelling storyline — a gamble that paid off. The Witcher 3 became a milestone for CD Projekt, showcasing the studio’s ambitions and introducing the franchise’s lore to millions worldwide.

Since then, The Witcher has expanded into a major multimedia franchise with a Netflix adaptation, animated features, and several spin-off titles.
