
Given how visible Star Wars tie-ins have been in games like Fortnite, Bungie’s approach makes sense. It avoids that “everything becomes Fortnite” fatigue some shooters face (see recent trends in Call of Duty) and protects Destiny’s lore. Fortnite can roll out wildly out-there content with little friction — a giant Homer Simpson floating above the map, for example — which simply wouldn’t land the same way in Destiny’s universe.
