Since Battlefield 6 launched earlier this month, many players have criticised how grind-heavy progression feels. Advancing ranks takes far longer than expected, XP thresholds seem inflated, and the weapon assignment challenges required to unlock a large portion of the arsenal are unusually arduous—so much so that some players might never complete them over the game’s lifetime.
Fortunately, the developers appear to be responding. In an official social update, the Battlefield team said they’re increasing match-completion and daily bonus XP, lowering the XP needed for the first 20 weapon progression levels, and making assignments available earlier. They also noted that, while additional changes aren’t immediate, the team is reviewing the difficulty of weapon assignment challenges to make them more attainable.

The developers also confirmed they’re trimming back the number of so-called “XP farm” servers—a move explained two ways. First, the proliferation of those servers had pushed community servers to capacity, preventing players from finding and enjoying unique Portal maps and curated experiences. Second, the team emphasised that community-created content is one of Battlefield 6’s strengths: it should foster creativity, experimentation, and social play, not reliably exploit progression systems.
Accordingly, the update to remove or limit XP-farming modes is rolling out today and will appear across platforms “over the next couple of hours.” The developers also said further patches addressing other issues—such as visibility, weapon bloom, vehicle spawn problems, and more—are in the pipeline and will be detailed soon.
