Community manager Shepard addressed the situation on Steam, acknowledging players’ desire for full progression in solo/co‑op and on curated custom servers—not only in matchmade PvP—and admitting the team could have communicated progression eligibility more clearly. Read the Steam post.

Shepard outlined measures under consideration during an initial test window to verify the changes behave as intended. Personal XP and unlocks will be active on a curated selection of community servers while participant stat tracking remains paused for the trial.

Multiple safeguards are being implemented to prevent farming: a minimum difficulty threshold, automated sweeps to detect prolonged AFK or repetitive-loop behavior, requirements for varied targeting, and caps on XP earned per minute. Servers that breach enough of these safeguards will have progression disabled until they comply with the required standards.

The team says progression availability will be clearly indicated when browsing servers. EA and DICE are requesting community feedback as they collect data and refine workarounds. If the plan succeeds, progressing through Battlefield 6’s reward tracks should become more straightforward and satisfying.
