Baldur’s Gate 3 publishing director says “this sort of feedback is a lot more useful during early access” as fans inexplicably demand Larian “#showthegaleballs”

Baldur's Gate 3 companion Gale romance

Some Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been asking Larian to give Gale more scenes where he disrobes — but a developer has suggested it might be too late to add them now.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has inspired a new wave of RPG fans to embrace the game’s romantic options with gusto. While many romances are popular — with Shadowheart frequently topping players’ lists — a vocal subset of the community is rallying on behalf of Gale, the charmingly eccentric wizard who famously asks if he can “eat your magic shoes.”

When supporters doubled down with the hashtag “#SHOWTHEGALEBALLS,” Douse appeared to play along, echoing the slogan with a lighthearted nod: “#Showthegaleballs.”

That naturally prompts the question: what exactly are fans demanding? Every companion can be seen nude in Baldur’s Gate 3, so is this a request about showers, camera angles, or simply extra scenes for Gale? I asked someone with the game installed to check rather than re-downloading the 148 GB title — it turns out Gale’s model does include anatomy and can be shown. Given that, the conversation arguably centers more on adding a dedicated shower or bathing scene than on revealing anything new anatomically.

On a personal note, I liked Gale’s character, but his attempt to pursue a romance after the Act 2 encounter with the orphan’s ghost-parents put me off. Between that and Lae’zel’s scolding when I flirted with other companions, I ultimately gravitated toward Shadowheart’s romance.

Baldur’s Gate 3 director Swen Vincke says he appreciates developers critiquing their own work, but that they should also remember what they did well.
