Baldur’s Gate 3 Developers Respond to The Game Awards Nomination: “What the Fuck”

Baldur’s Gate 3 has earned a nomination for Best Community Support at The Game Awards for the third straight year. The announcement prompted heartfelt thanks from the game’s official X account, which credited the community’s ongoing enthusiasm and dedication.

“Being nominated again is an absolute honour — this recognition belongs to the players whose passion keeps Baldur’s Gate 3 alive.”

Larian Studios replied to the announcement with a bemused but grateful message, demonstrating how surprised and appreciative the team remains.

Baldur’s Gate 3 launched on PC in August 2023 and went on to claim Game of the Year at the 2023 The Game Awards, along with awards for Best Performance (Neil Newbon as Astarion), Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, Player’s Voice, and Best Community Support. It returned to the Best Community Support shortlist in 2024 and won; this 2025 nomination marks a third consecutive appearance in the category and reinforces the community’s strong showing.

Although Larian declared Patch #8 the final major content update in April 2025, that release was substantial — adding cross-play, a photo mode, and twelve new subclasses. The studio has continued to support the title with regular maintenance and quality-of-life improvements; the most recent patch, Hotfix #34, arrived in September 2025 and delivered a native Steam Deck build.

To secure the 2025 Best Community Support trophy, Baldur’s Gate 3 will compete with Final Fantasy 14, Fortnite, Helldivers 2, and No Man’s Sky. Having beaten the same field in 2024, Larian certainly has a realistic shot at repeating the feat — and the community will be key if the studio is to pull off another critical success.
