Impressions so far
Love this game. At start it was a bit confusing, but every man with average intellect can handle game mechanics. Im playing on a official server 64/64 so the map was looking empty for a while. Until this moment, which forced me to create this discussion.
Was walking through the woods, starving as usual, and suddenly heard a goat moaning. For someone this might be nothing special, but for me at that point it meant a whole adventure :D
so i sneaked upon that goat with my stonespear ready. First throw was a miss due to difficulty with seeing flight path (i found it easier to throw things while crouching by using lean). The second time spear landed perfectly. I chased goat for a while and finished it with throwing a stone axe. That moment was a moment of triumph. Bunch of food, new backpack. Life's good.
After that i headed to the nearest city (one with a church and the southwest). And a few minutes latter i saw a lone puppet few meters away. Haven't managed to kill it with a spear though, killed with an axe. Got hurt, but nothing serious. At that moment i thought that the map in not as empty as i though at the beginning.
But i could not think of what will happen next :D I looted 2 houses at the edge of the city, and was climbing upstairs, while i heard a loud BAM. Someone was shooting at me. My heart was pumping like it was my first 1v1 situation in PUBG. I ran upstairs and saw the enemy for a moment before he vanished (have to say that this awareness system is DAMN GOOD, like it a lot). Heard him running to my place (thanks razer synapse for this x>). I waited for a while and jumped from the balcony. And oh boy i fled fast. Ran for a while and hid in the grass (in hope my camouflage skill will help me). And it helped. Even more than i thought. I saw another player coming out the nearest house. I decided to stay still and was just lying there in front of him.
And the funniest thing was that he didnt spot me, ran over me and went to another house. After that i got up and escaped from the city.
Sooooooo, what am i trying to say, that the game has much to offer, it just may take time to fall in love with the game, to have fun. Its a bit slowpaced game, so you have to be patient, and grateful to the devs for making something unique and outstanding.
If you read the whole story, know - i like you ;D. Thanks for attention. Hope it will change some people's minds about the game.:P6:

I'm not speachless, I never am. But if I was a different person, I would be. :)

Posts like these always remind me of why I think I have the best fraking job in the world and why I love it so much. People like you remind me of that and for that, I wholeheartedly thank you, Амадэль, and also thank you for liking me. :tlove: Yes, I read every word.

And this story is fantastic! It's personal, it's tense and it made my heart pump faster as I was going through it. It also shows that, although we're far from finished, we are going in the right direction and that is something that motivates us and keeps us going forward. People like you and posts like these keep us going forward, steering us in the right direction when necessary.

I will make sure this post makes its way to core dev team (I'm just Santa's little helper :dwayneelf:), if nothing else, but because I know how positive these things influence people like them, people who are dedicated, listen to their players and are trying to make the best possible game and offer the best possible experience to their players. This is not about killing DayZ. And not about being more popular than Fortnite or PUBG. All those games made an impact and have a place in our heart, or at least libraries of some of us. And we respect them for what they offer. But this is about us, about you and about making SCUM damn good game.

Will it change some people's minds about the game? I don't know. But I know it will show that we have a nice community here and that we can all share same passion about gaming. Thank you man, you made my day. :steamhappy:

The main thing i wanted to say, is that most of the critisism on the forums is unnecessary. Its just hard for many of people to adopt to something they are not used to. The mechanics are GREAT and work as intended even now in the stage of early access. I hope the game will be as unique and fun as it now, and even better.

btw there was another little story after i wrote this. I was going to the woods for the rifle i ledt there. And suddenly i heard some footsteps not so far from me. I immediately went prone, and hid in a bush. So what do you think it was a guy with a shotgun that hunted me. He was running in circles, popping in and out (not randomly, but in a logical way. he was invisible when he was near bushes, and clearly visible when in open and close to my position. stealth mechanics work flawlessly in my opinion). He even stood right near the bush where i was hiding. In the end he gave up and run away. I waited for some time and left too. Thats all :) If only i had a gun...

Great story, thank you very much for sharing it with us and the community - it makes work hours less hard for us when we know that people are enjoying playing the game. Thanks for making our day, looking forward for more stories like this :)
I was playing with a friend and we set a location to meet up at, a nice little cabin north of the airfield, very picturesque and had a few towns around and also obviously the airfield itself to be looted.
I had a shotgun with quite a bit of ammo so we decided to go clear out a town so headed south towards the nearest one, hunting down zombies, me with my shotgun and my buddy with his spears.

After a while the town fell quiet and no more zombies rushed us, I decided to take a dump in a zombies mouth for a screenshot, as I finish a bear rushed from nowhere and slapped me down to about 10% health then just ran back off again, we started to run and I fell about 5 foot off a rock and died, it was hilarious.
Loving the game so far, really reminds me of the early mod days of dayZ where everyone is more keen to team up and explore than just pvp, great job so far guys!

MY STORY

I was going with a friend to a base in B2 to get some equipment in the middle of the night, before we enter, we hear a lot of shots, so we decide to wait that the sound relax and keep hearing and looking for movement.

While waiting my char is constantly hungry, I eat various mushroom but looks that it is not enough, because it continous to ask for food every 10 minutes of gaming, and this it is the bane of this char for the whole ark of the story.

In the moment we try of entering, we see two shadow figure walk in front of us running away, my friend get stuck outside, and I get stuck inside behind a crate. We have only improvised stick weapon, and these guys just looted the base... so we definetly do not want to engage.
After a while we been able to sneak out without be seen, and approach the base from another side... unfortunatly the mech is much more aggressive than we remembered and after an initial warning to my movement (I was behind a wall, but I was seen anyway), my friend got killed by line of sight through a window (he was hiding in the room).
-
Damn, I lost a friend, so I decided to go to take some stuff from another side of the base, the moment I step out and walk nearby the wall, another guy jump out of the base, kinda scaring me. He doesn't look to have a weapon, but he looks like having better clothing than mine.

I say "hi", he say "hi", some other guy decide to say "hi" to us with the mouth of a rifle.

Half a second, and we run together, united by the danger, back inside the base taking cover from the other guy. I ask the usual question "do you have food?", and he answer me as well "I am looking for food too". So we join group and look in the base... mainwhile the other guy that shoot us he approaches and ask to move to the entrance and been seen.

We decide to don't trust the guy that shoot us before talk, and we go to the other side of the base trying to get whatever is leftover of the base that looks very much empty.

We get some stuff, but not enough, and nothing really that allow us shooting. But at least now I have better vest and anti bullets one. We escape from another side, and because we are still extremely hungry, we look for more mushroom. We found some, but like I said before it is never enough.

Slowly we go to bunker 6, I am hoping to find food in the corridors, where there are some small room with food, I have a trusted can opener, so we should be ok. While we attemp to enter, we hear another guy that is already inside. We all agree to be friendly, he get outside, we make contact and invite the guy.

I enter the base with my companion, the last companion we don't have trace of him, and we don't have him anymore the name on the screen. My companion suspect that he was shot by the mech, because he heard a shot. I am looking in cafeteria for food, he goes back to see the guy, and he died at the entrance of the bunker. I thought immediatly "it's time to eating man meat". I go back, I risk to be seen by the robot, and chop the guy quickly. Once is chopped, we could luckily take the meat from behind cover of the base. We took all the stuff that he left, we took a lot of meat. And we go back into the base to finish looting before getting out.

The base was pretty looted, but there were still a good 1/4 of the entire base, left over in the corridors. My friend get a weaponisde weapon, I have just one clip of gun, and some empty weapon, and I make space for my trusted axe.

We get out of the base, desyinc ensue... we run in different directions to reduce the possibility of being targets. My friend get shot, I escape no problem. After few second I gave him for dead, but in reality he was alive and he show up. I warn him about the desync and the memory leak that make the game go a bit cranky while playing after a while, and than I tell that I know a secure place nearby but far away enough that we will not encounter other people where we can build a crate store the stuff that are extra, and cook finally very nutrient human meat.

We go to the spot, I start to chop tree, my friend I guess lost connection, and I keep building everything that I need, a crate and a fire. My friend never come back, and I carry on with the task to finally fight hunger over forever.

While doing that, a guy from nowhere and under equipped (running in the forest toward the base) just show up. I was frustatred that my well hidden place behind a huge rock, was visible by only one side, and by the light and noise of the fire. He is extremely laggy (or maybe the server, or me with the desync). I see while we have a small conversation that he is looking at my crate, where I already stored my stuff, I was waiting for the meet to be cooked, so I was in a tight spot of "I have to be here". So I took out the axe and I make it clear to get away.
Luckily the guy runs.

I keep storing some stuff away waiting for the food, and than I hear that the guy just gone around the rock sneaking with his spade in hand. "The ♥♥♥♥♥♥" I thought... he wanted to kill me and robb me.

So I take out my gun, I try to shoot him once, and he run away. Than he slowly come back, unfortunatly the desync is so bad, that I miss every shot, so I decide to take out the axe and keep the last shot for fighting. The desync is so bad, that we are unable to hit heach other, so we are having the most stupid laggy fight dance that I ever seen. I attack and go back, he disappear and he does the same in a different direction. Rinse and repeat for 5 minute.

After a while, I get hit two time in a laggy way (and I have no idea if I hit him even once). And I try to say to him, "dude it is useless to fight, we are not hitting each other". Bu the guy keeps be persistent... so I decide to run away to attract him away from the base.

I run better than this guy, I take out the gun hoping that running towards me it would be easier, but because of lag and he moving erractily I empty the clip and no apparent hit to the guy. He hide in a small bush to recuperate stamin, I hide in a bush so that I can finally close my wounds. And I slowly go back to the base going around.

The guy looks that he is not coming back. I finally can eat my food. I check the food stick with the meat... and I cannot eat it. Than I look at the colour of the stick... it is black. It burned the meat. I am so hungry and angry at the guy that came in the wrong moment at the wrong spot, that I decided that it is enough for the day. I take the weapon that I have in the crate because the place was discovered. I tried to open a can (I put both item on the ground), but for some reason it doesn't give me the option to open. So yeah. What a lucky day!

I had fun, I like the game... but because I died 3 more times before this event in other servers (I am jumping servers to see how the netcode connection change or not) because of desync that make hand to hand combat difficult vs zombie, and shooting at distance as well (even to just kill animals). I decided to come back and playing it when I see the networking improving. At the moment it is too laggy to enjoy any encounter. I got a basic understanding of the game, and few places. I'll just wait patience that you will improve. And I have optic fiber... so I have a decent internet for sure in upload and download.

When i start to play this game i found some clothes so i looked like a simple worker, than i have found big tool box, i took it in hands and evry person i have met i told him that i am "Bob the Builder and i am here to fix your house in NO TIME" and i started to role play as a mechanic or a simple worker, so they laugh and didnt shot me in face or kill. Than after 24 hour of gameplay when i was gear up i decided to enter military base, it was simple, i found good gear but, escaping was difficult and i died ;p

Damn this is awesome! First of all, kudos to Bunny on idea to merge the posts, it's already paying off and I'm having fun reading through these unique experiences.

Secondly, thanks for sharing guys. My friend is visiting me over the weekend and he was eager to play SCUM. I just sat beside taking notes on some small bugs, typos and trying to determine how much fun he was having. He was whining how some things need more explanation (and I agree), but when I explained the basics to him, he was drawn into the game totally. He played yesterday for hours, geared up and even had a funny encounter with another player. Which was the introduction to his short story. I'm telling it as a bystander who watched the whole thing as a spectator (it's a reality show after all.

Nick's story

It was getting dark, but he had nothing to worry about. He had enough food, milk, water, even crackers and candy bar. He was fully geared, had both Hunter 55 and Kar 98, but no ammo. What the hell, he didn't run into anyone anyway.

He started looting houses, found some additional food and waist bag, left the house and relized that doors on the next house were open. He crouched, thinking about his next move. We both heard sounds in that house realising there is someone there. He slowly approached house, entered and nothing, went to next room and nothing again. No people but also no loot. He turned and left the room, finding himself eye to eye to another player. Guy had a carton of milk in his hands and spear on his back. It was a matter of seconds. He pulled Kar 98, point it into the guy and taunted him. That moment another guy, his friend probably entered the house just behind him, saw the gun and started running away, both of them did. Nick didn't chase them, he had no ammo in those guns, but bluff worked and those two just ran away lol. So it's possible to chase people away by just intimidating them with an empty game. Lesson learned. :)

Boxed a guy while wearing full bear and animal skin until I knocked him out, proceeded to poop on him while he was knocked out and ran away.

Don't mess with bear-men

I don't own the game and I don't know much about it beyond seeing this in the steam store: https://i.imgur.com/gynZwxC.png

That's my story.

When you join in a half populated server only to show your new friend the game & end up making a dream-team of 7 people.

>I'm in C2 bunker as I left off, and my friend is in the far South in B4.
>Bunker's freshly looted.
>Sees inmate clothing around & nothing but empty armories.
>Hear's the mech blastin' a foo' outside.
>They walk in, both complete bambies with little to no gear, end up giving them two of my 5 hunting scopes & 6 ACOG's & whatever mass amount of supplies I have.
>Team up, 3-man squad.
>Find out they have 2 other dudes on Discord with'm somewhere coming up.
>Immediate 5-man, let's go.
>Hike down to B4 area, friend is in the town within the very middle of the sector.
>Top of B4, see a bambie runnin' along the field to the major city up north of B4.
>Creep up on him, he whispers
>"Hey there."
>"Hi", I say.
>Run up, not gonna shoot him.
>My other homies run up behind.
>Recruit bambie.
>6-man, oh hell we stacked
>Make it to town, find my friend, he's already geared
>inb4 a naked man with a kitchen knife tries to shank us
>Feels the firepower of 7 men & drops dead faster than a victim of Dwayne The Rock Johnson
>Gunshots attracted at least 15 zombies I swear to God
>Dropped all within ~ 30 seconds
>Slices every single body, steaks for at least a year

10/10 would L4D again

>Yes I green texted on Steam as I don't feel like being anymore detailed than this

Today i survived and recovered from a 1% health state, all by myself. After crap hit the fan inside a military base, i was left in a hangar barely hanging to life. Surrounded by the corpses of the last 3 enemies, i nursed myself back to life. When i opened back the hangar doors, i felt reborn.
