Launch Crash & Controller Temporary Fix

UPDATE (4/17/18): We have updated the client with a new patch to address this issue. If this issue is still present or occurring in your client, please create a new forum post.

I will also mention that some of these changes might negatively affect users running the "Special K" program. It is recommended to turn Special K off if conflicts arise.

Another issue that commonly causes problems is tablets/touchscreens. It has been found that disabling the "TabletInputService" service and/or unplugging any tablets and touchscreens will prevent many crashes:

1) Press the Windows Key and R on your keyboard
2) Enter "services.msc" without quotations
3) Scroll down until you see "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service"
4) Right click on it and click properties
5) Under the General tab change the Startup Type to Disabled, click Stop, then Apply

Hello everyone,
Today we launched Ys VIII Lacrimosa of DANA on Steam and GoG.

Immediately we began seeing an issue related to Crashing on Startup and Frame Rate loss on interactions with their controller. So far this issue is confirmed on Steam, but not confirmed on GoG.

We are currently investigating root causes and solutions, but would like to inform everyone on a solution they may be able to implement immediately.

If you are encountering crashes at the start of the game, or frame rate related issues from controller usage, please follow the next steps to resolve the issue (for most users).

4.Please make sure that the Detected Controllers shows the currently connected controller of choice. Then, select the Specific Configuration Support setting relevant to the connected controller. {LINK REMOVED}{LINK REMOVED}

Doing so should resolve most crash on boot and frame rate loss due to controller support issues you should be encountering.

We hope to resolve this issue natively within Steam in the near future. Please continue to report any issues you have in the Troubleshooting forum as we are closely monitoring all issues coming in. Thank you.

This suggestion make my right analog stick that use for camera movement work with the set back i can't used skill button RB button ( you still need to fiddle with button setting on steam via Shift+tab and the config button on setting in the game ) but the problem is still the game detect that i used ps4 controller which i don;t (using steel series stratus xl for pc)

It does not change anything. Whatever I do the controller does not work.
Xbox One, DS4, different profiles in the Steam config, DS4 Windows with / without, re-download the game etc etc .... the controller does not work ! !

Add to that, for those who get to play with the controller, there are only 8 directions for moving the character (as if you played with the cross). Problem not present in verison PS4 ....

i get crahes and freezes from time to time, during cutscenes and Dialogue, and also get resloution scaling problems my specs are
1.CPU AMD Athlon x4 860k quad core processor
2.GPU EVGA Nivida Gtx 960 2gb vram SC OC (NIvida driver 391.01)
3.OS windows 10 pro 64 bit
4.8gb ram
5.Gigabyte motherboard F2A78M-HD2
6.Green 1 tb HDD

Same with @nolwinedg, I have had crashes and freezes into 1 second of the game. The longest I've been playing was 30 minutes; this still on the ship while I was talking non-stop. Only then it seemed to function. The moment the tentacle came, the wolves and even picking up the sword it was going to crash/freeze. Even if I didn't pick up the sword.
Changing resolution, the controller fix you guys proposed, using different window types and even disabling V-Sync didn't solve it.

I have this now on one PC - xbox 360, tried multiple controllers - it was working earlier, now i can't get it to work no matter what - works in other steam games

hello,when I open the minimap(press 'down' button on Xbox controller )and back to the game ,the screen usually begin to flicker on the left and right edge.it looks like that the minimap has not totally closed.

i found out i had to uninstall drivers and reinstall drivers, idk what i did but it worked. yall try reinstall controller driver n scptoolkit, see if that works or not
