Why communicating a release time matters (Dev Response Marked as Answer)
By announcing a March 5th release date without disclosing a release time, you force your customers that wish to play your game on release day to assume a time, and the time that makes sense is the time the vast majority of games release on steam (1 PM EST). Now, perhaps people shouldn't plan their time around unconfirmed dates/times, but people are going to do so anyway. The reason people are upset is because it feels like they shouldn't have ever planned to play this game today.

When you make an appointment at your doctor for 2 PM and they aren't ready for you until 3 or 4 PM, it makes you upset right? It's a similar idea here, though again, perhaps people shouldn't be planning around unconfirmed times.

Devs, please reconsider treating frustrated customers like they're in the wrong for being frustrated that you're technically releasing the game on time for like, 1 time zone. If you're truly working on the game to the last minute, perhaps "March 5th" shouldn't have been the date, and maybe being transparent about that is the right move so people don't waste their time trying to make playing this game fit their schedule for the day.

EDIT: PLEASE don't repay the developer's transparency with snide remarks and insults. Don't make their potential fears about being honest a reality. They're clearly doing their best and things just didn't go according to plan. The only issue here was being left in the dark on what the plan was.

EDIT 2: Congrats on the launch guys, hopefully everything goes smoothly and you can get some rest now :)

1.0 is indeed live, but we have not taken the game out of Early Access yet. During our rigorous testing in the 12 hour meeting last night (during which we pushed 4 full builds and tested the entire game each time!), we found a crash in MP that kills the server and is 100% reproducible.

We are going to fix that and push out a tiny patch with that fix. Then we will take the game out of Early Access.

Apart from this MP fix, 1.0 is out and released on the main branch.

No, I'm not being sarcastic, and yes I know that is a bit passive aggressive, I can be quite a ♥♥♥♥♥ so please look pass that.
Yeah it's fine. This whole thing really was a hot mess, but that's what I signed up for when I got an internet connection lol.

That, is a statement we can easily both agree to that applies to both of us lol.

Things didn't go according to plan, which is a fitting end to our whole saga really.

Sorry for those of you who we frustrated like this, but we were working like absolute madmen during our 12 hour meeting last night, trying to make sure every important bit was tested and fixed.

And although it's frustrating for you guys, I'm glad we did, because we resolved a whole host of issues. It ultimately will amount to a better release for you guys.

It will all be over soon! Thank you for your patience! Trust me, it's just as tough for us!

Damage control much?

Leave that to the devs, huh?

Oh wait, you freaked out, when I opened that thread either and totally missed my point:

The only thing that frustrates me are forum troll fan boys that want to speak in your name.

You are fine guys.
It's actually that people should got used to that since Valve. ^^

Even though I still recommend to be careful with release dates, you already delivered Xen fully and from now on, it's just the final spurt for final release.

Take your time. :)

No, we have a game breaking reproduceable crash that will break peoples games if we upload right at the moment, and are currently tracking it down. I've been up for 27hrs so far sorting things for the release today. I'm not based in Seattle either. We are aware of these threads, but not alot we can do to keep answering when we have things to fix. It's currently 7am here, we've been at this since 7pm yesterday testing the build. It is as frustrating for us as for you.

Thanks.
Build's out now. Thanks for the hard work!
You guys take a break, as long as needed. You all deserve it.

No break for us yet! We need to fix this MP issue first, then continue to monitor the feedback from 1.0!

Hopefully you guys are taking turns on napping.... power napping helps quite a lot during team crunch times extending over 15+ hours.....

Also fruits... like oranges.... help a lot.... just food for thought (:
I'm ok to wait. It just a game, a late release will not harm a human life. Developer is doing good on their work, I appreciated :)

Does MP play like half life deathmatch? Crouch Bhopping included?
Oh man, don't overwork yourselves, it's not worth sacrificing your health for this.
On another note, is the 1.7gb update that just shipped the fixed 1.0 release for singleplayer?

Take your time guys and good luck with the release!

Have some of the people in this thread never had to deal with Valve Time? Jesus.
