PSA: Official Servers will NOT Wipe on game release!
Alright then, I've thought a lot about this, read a lot of commentary on the subject, and understand the time players have been putting into the game. Here is the final word on the matter: we will **not** be wiping the Official Servers on ARK's release (and as mentioned, we will do everything in our power to ever avoid wiping -- we all felt the sting from the launch duping bug all too well). We will keep existing active Official Servers as they are post-ship -- no wipe -- though at ship we may at our discretion re-purpose certain empty or near-empty Official Servers with 1 month prior warning (we'll provide archives to data of such servers if anyone wishes to re-host).. New Servers will be ADDED to help accommodate new players at that time; we can afford it ;)

We take the time players put into the game seriously, and we want to reward them for that. The reward is having a *permanent* impact on your ARK, simple as that.

Nice to hear that. I hope in the future you live up to your pledge, since the three weeks delay of the biome (which left some people without bases for almost a month now, being a nomadic tribe is only fun if you really want to) and the very inaccurate merkers caused a lot of trouble and grief for some players. And that piece of beach in the north which got added to the warnings one or two days before in a very casual and "oh btw..."-fashion.

Edit: I am very appreciative of you guys in general, but those things I felt had to be pointed out, especially since I think it would not have been a huge effort to avoid those.

This is a worry as the official PRIMITIVE server i'm playing is nearly empty now !
Are you going to give more "love" to this mode ?

wow this is pretty stupid, most of the servers are owned by alpha tribes, and most of the people that start at release will just get robbed and raided, especially since they are noob. gg, rip ark.

Not all official servers are hostile against noobs on our server we have a specific rule to not attack noobs when you are a quite a high level you will be raided and wiped of the server

how is that different? that's even worse. the people just played 1-2 weeks, still are actually weak cause they probably like 2-3 people against 30, and most of them will just get raided cause they are unexperienced in building and such.

a wipe would've caused a fresh start for everyone, clans, tribes, noobs, equal starts.

plus they are actually saying if servers are empty they wipe them basically. so i dont get the point of this thread. "repurpose is basically deleting the server??"


pvp servers are ruined by this, cause a pvp server needs an equal start imo. they will have a ton of dinosaurs, while the noobs are still taming, where is the balance in that?

This is a great gesture but at the same time its not fair to the new oncoming players at release plus some would like a character look overhaul unless you plan on giving us a "barbershop"?

Agreed, what does repurpose mean? is that another word for a wipe?

When are you going to fix TheCenter bug where players and server owners can't access their server Center maps/Servers Single and multiplayer.

dude you make no sense, wiping everyone just means the experienced players float to the top of the pyramid instantly again. do you think noobs tame trike/argy/quetz in the first day? wipe is pointless - go join a new server

You can't win either way. Don't wipe and people are going to complain, if you do wipe, well the alpha tribes who run all those servers are going to complain.

There's 3 reasons unofficial servers are so popular.
1. For most players it's because there are active admins who care if the server is fun for all the players and don't favor certain people.
2. because being god is an ego boost.
3. There's people like my small group who just want to enjoy the game without having to deal with the drama that comes with the immaturity and entitlement issues so many seem to have these days.

but what if experienced players start at release? thats the same? i dont just mean noobs, but still.
i joined like 5 new servers, and i know what im saying. even as experienced players you already stand no chance against alpha tribes on some server, this "NOWIPE" will just ruin them and keep them dead, so in the end most pvp servers get "REPURPOSED" so i dont get it.
i personally waited for release, to start again, but this news just ruins everything. and my point is they will have many dinosaurs, so if i start i will just get ruined if im "low amount of players".

i understand that after a wipe, a big tribe will tame faster than a few players, but still it would be more fair, than right now.
