I don't know, but if the devs release a discount right now, I'll buy the deluxe edition instantly.

It's an image of a discord chat so it should be safe for the most part.

Am I missing something? That just appears to be a fan replying and not any sort of official response, looking up the user doesn't return anything on Google besides fan made videos uploaded by them (they are not an employee, I believe.)

Did they say it's satire somewhere officially?

I hopped into the discord to check it out myself, couldnt find anything official about it being a joke.
So yea,it looks legit.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Seriously you failed to read the room. Unity are doubling down and seem intent on kneecapped the indie scene on Unity. There's already discussion on certain websites how to spoof ID's and set up endless install/reinstall scripts for the lols. If Unity say they can track everything to the extent they say they are implying Unity is now heavy malware.
It's hard to take this situation with levity when they dig themselves deeper with every statement full of nebulous adverbs.

It was more of a satirical tweet to raise awareness about the issue, as we're aware this is something that would not only affect us, but other indie devs. Especially since we have stuff in the pipeline! Trust, we are well aware this is a decision that affects all developers who use Unity, including ourselves (we have stuff in the pipeline, this change could severely affect our team members who would have to learn an entirely different skillset based off what could happen with Unity).

We like to be a little silly on our social media, but offered our thoughts about the situation with a statement to Unity here on Twitter, we sincerely hope they reverse their decision. - https://x.com/MassiveMonster/status/1701808567140102633?s=20

A bit harsh to expect them to basically just drop their own game as a statement.
They did raise some awareness with their post since various news websites picked it up and wrote about it.
But wanting them to delist their game is not only punishing them, but also us the players.

Their post wasn't "satirical." It was the equivalent of a bluff, and when their bluff was called, they folded. Any reasonable adult would come to that conclusion. I'm glad it had the effect of raising awareness, but awareness by itself means nothing if people are too afraid to take a stand.

Indie developers have enough to deal with without worrying about retroactive changes to contracts signed. It's a scumbag, predatory move and delisting would have been an entirely proportional response. While I don't blame them one bit for not falling on their swords, this was nothing other than an attention grabbing knee bend move. There's no polite way to put it otherwise that isn't flat out dishonest.

Hopefully Unity receives enough backlash to reconsider from other devs. Predatory changes always start small to probe what they can get away with. A line in the sand needs to be drawn, or this already beleaguered industry will suffer some serious hits down the line.

You seem to leave out the indie Publishers with your post, you know the people like Devolver who even said after Lamb's tweet that current and future clients "make sure to mention the game engine" whenever they pitch a game to them hinting that if Lamb hadn't made that tweet even as a satire one it got the attention of a well respected indie publisher and said publisher had pretty much declared that they wanted nothing to do with Unity.
