Great game
Angry birds match 3 is a brilliant game. The levels can be challenging which is a good thing as it stops it being boring. Free daily chests and gifts regularly give free minutes in sensible time chunks such as 20 mins, 40 mins, 1 hour and occasionally 6 hours unlimited play. Side games such as bingo are totally free and give good and useful rewards. There are also regular additional games that can be played instead of the regular game which also give additional prizes, gems and time. All levels are possible if you have a little patience. You do not need to buy gems. I have been playing this game for six months and not spent a penny on it. It is a brilliant game, very cute and lots of fun.
When 3D falls flat.
This game is pretty— in that obnoxious way, that is far too aware of its prettiness and prone to bouts of self-admiration. Rendering the graphics in 3D is so dumb and unnecessary for a match-3. The need to show that render off creates flourishes that actually detract from the game’s aesthetic, ruining the smooth, pleasing flow of cascades that made classics like Bejeweled so appealing. While my tablet is more than up to the task of delivering it, the motion itself is too busy for that true match-3 satisfaction. If only there were an option to do the puzzles in sleeker, smoother graphics. Skip this nonsense and try their other title, Nibblers, instead. You’ll see what I mean pretty quickly. That one gets it right, with wild cascades, great chain reactions, and fun but unpretentious visuals.
Also, there is no option to turn off tutorials. It hasn’t been rocket science since the turn of the century, guys. Some of us can navigate the microtransaction value-adds intuitively, and would rather not be marched through the process for so long.
Great to start but now broken!
Have played for quite some time now and really like this game. Yes it has some minor glitches now and again which are usually quickly fixed. However for the last couple of days the league is showing in maintenance so I can’t compete and am getting no response from support. So I guess it is bye bye Birdie sadly.
