alright i checked my fps while playing and it keeps going from 60 fps to 47 then 7 fps very weird....

I had a similar issue, my monitor refresh rate is 100 Hz and fps dropped and got locked to 50, it got fixed after I DDU'd and performed a clean installation of the latest driver (452.06)

They definitely fixed something, before 1.52 I had some problems in high framerates. Anything from 90 FPS and up and I got stutters again, and sometimes late texture loads. I had to play with vsync on 60, then it was smooth. After update no more problems, 100+ fps most of the times, no stutters. Even if I go from 130/120 to 90 in some areas, it will go down "smoothly" without a stutter.

I can swap to old GPU r7 260x 1gb and test it, if someone has that card and is interested.

You turned on your PC for 8 days straight?

In this case, i suggest you to try turn on vsync like Sowa_95 did.

If nothing works, make a support ticket.

DX11 tesselation, multithreaded rendering for multicore CPU, Shader Model 5. Basically, the difference is that the game will be more beautiful and can be better optimized with DX11

With high end / modern hardware you want to use DX11 or DX12 (DX12 not available on GTA 5, yet. RTX, DLSS, and DX12 support could be nice. It wouldn't be a bad idea in the future, I also guess that's the end point of all these updates. next gen preparation).

If you want to use DX10, select DX10.1 in game.

Also depends on your GPU specs, most GPU support DX11. For example my 2009 GPU support DX11 but I chose DX10.1, I had trouble with shader when I selected DX10. I don't choose DX11 because I have performance issue (I need to test that again, it was 2015, maybe drivers improved something). DX10.1 is a good compromise if you have old hardware. DX11 can increase your performance in some game. You can use GTA5 benchmark to see which one is the best.

DX12 gives developers much more control on hardware, in theory it's nice and allow developers to optimize better their games BUT DX12 is still "new". Its not complete. New API, old game, old hardware, that's how you break games with updates. I'm not saying that's what happened but Rockstar Game will necessarily try to implement it one day.

A lot of reddit users claim the VRAM issue is still there after these updates. (Steam/EpicGames)

Rockstar indeed sent those replies because they didn't know if what they did would definitely fix the "stutter" issue.

The ones that are still having the game recognizing more memory than how it should, file a ticket and we shall wait for a response or a quick patch.

I sent a ticket yesterday night and the status is closed, no answers.

If they are silent after you sent the files, they most likely will be fixing the problem. In my experience, they were silent about 2 weeks then they released 1.52 patch.

They answered me today, they instructed me to set the game on "High priority" on the task manager, which I did but of course, That was not the fix to the memory-leak issue. (It still shows more V-RAM than usual)

So I answered them back. They did checked the files I provided for them,I hope more players are doing that so it helps them discover the source of this issue.

Hi Radeon.
Sorry to be repetitive.
I read that other games work well for you and that the only one that gives you problems is GTA 5, I don't think you have driver problems or that you have made changes in UEFI (as long as you have not done them).
There are not many options left depending on your situation, I would try to verify the integrity of EPIC files (if you did not do it since v1.52) or unfortunately wait for a new patch from Rockstars.

Exactly, they know and will work on it as soon as possible, they had perhaps already started as the messages that some received suggested.

Maybe they fixed it for most of the dedicated GPU's but not all and some of my friends who had integrated ones it didn't got fixed for them. I would suggest someone to use the already made list before to point out which ones got fixed

Hello, yesterday R* kept replying to my E-mails and they were being really helpful. I also tried verifying the game’s files on Epic’s Launcher. (And yes, I've been playing Tom Clancy's The Division and Remnant: From The Ashes without a single problem, I only have performance problems with GTA-V)

They instructed me to do a lot of things, and I did all of them.

Sadly, the issue still persists. Today I woke up to a reply from “Szymon B.”

This is what He said: We kindly inform you that the technical specification of your computer is below the minimum hardware requirements (your graphic card). Therefore, we are unable to help you. The link to the hardware requirements is below:

https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/203428177/Grand-Theft-Auto-V-PC-System-Requirements

Please upgrade your graphic card in order to play GTAV.

If you have any additional questions, please contact us again.

How is that a concrete answer??? How is He telling me that when I had over 20+ days of playtime before the Summer Update?

This is what I was instructed to do By another agent before that nonsense reply:

After having a look at your DxDiag and MSinfo, we would like you to try the following steps:

  1. Re-install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 following this guide: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/turn-windows-features-on-off#1TC=windows-7
Make sure that .NET Framework 3.5 is completely off. Then press OK and restart your computer. Then re-enable .NET Framework 3.5.

  2. Re-install Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 SP1. You can refer to this article: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5582

  3. Re-install DirectX. You can refer to this article: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35

  4. Uninstall the game and the Social Club application in that order.

  5. Install CCleaner and run the scan.

  6. Re-install the game and Social Club. Before starting the game, update them manually.
Below is a link to the latest version Social Club: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200146066-Manual-Link-to-Social-Club-Application-Download

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, please reply to this message with updated DxDiag and MSinfo text files attached. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

I tried everything, it still recognizes more memory and the stutter is still there.

I am completely devastated by this situation, it’s been almost over a month.

I am sadly going to stop playing now, there is no purpose or hope anymore. I had a few nice costumer support agents, I can only thank them for their time and consideration.

I am not contacting them anymore and I am just going to move on.

Thank you for reading me.

Some agent doesn't even try to help, they blindly follow their instructions. They have no free will and don't listen to the players. If your problem isn't on their lists, it's your hardware fault. It's completely stupid. Reminds me of the support guy who said you need at least 2gb of vram to play, that was bullsh*t, he didn't even know what he was talking about. Proof that it was bullsh*t: we got an update and many can play again.

I sometimes have the impression that the support is afraid of the developers. I'm sure that without the pressing* the people on the forum did (thank you very much) our concern would not have been resolved. And I'm 100% sure it's not bad will from the devs, just the support that didn't tell the devs anything.

Just updated the game. About 228mb worth of patch. So far I'm getting random FPS drops in certain parts of the game. Also I get randomly kicked out of sessions for no reason. Sure as hell there are a lot of connection issues than before. And no, I have a perfectly capable GPU to run GTA V in Ultra Settings at 1080P+ at 60+FPS.

@Jimmy If your VRAM is correct (the correct amount appears in Settings>Graphics), try this

AMD Drivers for your GPU : https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-500-series/radeon-rx-500-series/radeon-rx-570 !!! It was updated 9/9/2020 !!! might be your problem

It could simply be drivers / directx problems. Regarding disconnections, it may just be the fault of the servers or background programs. There are times when I had a lot, it's probably a coincidence.

Luego, vuelva a habilitar .NET Framework 3.5.

  2. Vuelva a instalar Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 SP1. Puede consultar este artículo: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5582

  3. Vuelva a instalar DirectX. Puede consultar este artículo: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35

Radeon, your main problem is that you continue with the error in the VRAM of the game. I imagine you are still with 3839 MB instead of the actual 1024 MB.

* EPIC file integration, discarded.
* There are no new drivers for your video card.
* Processes or sub-processes, discarded. You used to play at 40 fps.

There are not many options left. I don't want to be irresponsible, but I would try this as a last resort instead:

1 ° Uninstall the video card driver.
2nd Restart PC.
3 ° Start GTA V and check if the VRAM error persists in the game's graphic options (don't play).
4 ° Reinstall the driver, whether you have solved it or not.

Thanks for the recommendation but neither of them are my problems. My VRAM is correct (double checked) I have my GPU drivers on frequent auto update and was revised on 10th Sept itself when I installed it. And no, the connections are not because of any programs. I don't have anything else running when I play games. The servers have been sh*t since the last few updates and Rockstar is simply lazy to pay attention to those issues plaguing all sorts of connections on PC. This started around the same time there was an influx of players due to the Epic Games giveaway. As usual, R* will just sit idle and do nothing while pushing out more updates that make zero sense.

People with stutter/lag, that's simple, there's 3 main reasons :

-Old/Weak Hardware

-VRAM Issue

-Other

If you have modern/correct hardware, that's not the first one (obvious). You can see minimum and recommended specs on Steam and Rockstar Website, maybe somewhere on Epic.

If your VRAM is correct, this is not the VRAM Issue (obvious)

Now the last one, it could be different things, drivers, background programs, DirectX, game settings (like Vsync), CPU bottleneck. Corrupt files... etc

If your VRAM is correct and you have performance issue, you should check your performance tab. Windows performance tab, afterburner..etc

See if the culprit is your GPU or something else. Could be your CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD or something else. Check if you have the right BIOS settings too. If the game struggle, it should appear somewhere.

@Jimmy said he had connection issues after update, until more people confirm this, I think it's a coincidence.

I had connection issues like this but only when GTA was free, like you said. It was confirmed.

Also, there's a lot of cheater on PC. Other people connection impact yours since it's p2p. Someone confirmed that earlier on this topic. See if you can play invite only or solo.

Since people can play without VRAM issue, without stutter, without connection problem, the problem might be you, your computer, not the game.

Now, if you have VRAM issue, there's nothing to do, just wait for a fix. This is what we did and it worked. For now there's no solutions.

Even if you're 100% sure your drivers are up to date you should double/triple check, verifying cost you nothing.

When I said background program, I also meant program like Epic games running in background and doing strange things with connections. (Off topic but I hate Epic and everything related to this company, also remember when Epic game tried to sneak into Steam files. Epic behavior against other company like Steam and Apple doesn't help). Programs like antivirus, crap ware, cloud programs like Dropbox etc.

Try to identify real bugs caused by the latest update. The RTX 2070 guy is a great example, I'm happy he found his problem. He thought it was game fault. VRAM bug is a "real" bug caused by summer update. Still here for some people.

If you have performance issue and everything seems normal in game, no vram issue, no graphical artefacts. It's very hard to troubleshoot and see if it's really caused by latest update. I think everyone understand that but it's very difficult to find solutions if you don't know the problem.

Someone who doesn't know anything about cars is going to have a hard time describing the strange sound that comes from their engine.

Describing well can help. Everything could be useful. When, how, where..ect

Investigate. I'm sure you can provide more information and maybe fix your problem yourself.

If you manage to speak with humans, take your time to explain, only Rockstar games can help you. I don't know anything, I share ideas and maybe fix if I find something but I can't change anything. This is not Rockstar Support forum but we shared lot of things this month. It helped a lot. I created my account just to share the VRAM issue.
