But this time, it seems that the new series ended up crashing the servers of HBO Max.

HBO Max App Crashes During 'The Last of Us' Premiere

As per a recent report by ComicBook.com, HBO Max is facing some server issues amid the premiere of "The Last of Us."

The latest series on the streaming service is based on the hit PlayStation game of the same name. So fans of the successful gaming franchise have been waiting for the arrival of the series.

ComicBook.com notes in its report that HBO spent more money on "The Last of Us" series compared to the five seasons of its phenomenal show, "Game of Thrones." Given that, a lot of folks out there are expecting this new offering to be worth checking out.

All that said, it seems that the servers of HBO Max got past their limit during the premiere of the highly-anticipated series.

HBO Max users took to social media to complain about errors during the premiere of "The Last of Us" on January 15, Sunday. Some users report that the app of the streaming service has become unavailable, while others say that they are experiencing errors while trying to watch.

The DownDetector website also reports issues with the HBO Max app. So if you are itching to watch the first episode of "The Last of Us," you might want to wait for a little while until the issues air out.

HBO App Issues During Premieres

It is not the first time that the servers of HBO Max took a hit amid a premiere of a big show. According to We Got This Covered, the debut of the Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon, also saw several crashes and server problems.

But the server issue is not exclusive to the HBO streaming service. The online news outlet notes that the premiere of the "The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power" also messed up the server of Amazon Prime Video.

Therefore, server issues or app crashes are nothing new for streaming services, most especially during debuts of big shows like the all-new "The Last of Us."
