Not enough cuts...

I'm liking what I'm seeing, though. I haven't played a NFS since the launch of the PS4 so can't really comment on how similar it is to the last game.

Just give me an Underground or Hot Pursuit 2 remaster. We're never getting a NFS game that handles that well again, it seems.

Every time I think game aesthetics are finally going to move past the x-treme ultra cool 100 thieves cashapp compound hello fellow kids vibe, they just seem to...make it even more x-treme?

If gameplay is good I don't care really. But yeah, I'm personally not a fan of the art style. I think mainly because alongside the art style comes a lot of cool characters with witty one-liners and lots of extra menus and tutorials for buying cosmetics, all of which severely reduces time of actually playing.

How did dude even get access to it? I thought the only way to get access was playtests.

The sense of speed doesn't look right. Speedo reads over 100mph, but it looks like he's driving to the shops.

it looks...well like how NFS looked since Underground 2, nothing groundbreaking but it might be fun, i dont think they're gonna reach the peaks of those PS2 games but if they can get close then is a good step fordward.

I realize too many cars would be annoying to navigate, but man those streets feel empty...

I like the style and the general vibe though. I hope it ends up good.

I enjoyed Heat so I'll enjoy this but expected more of a departure visually, music fitting to race to and better controls than Heat. For being next-gen only, looks very underwhelming visually so far. Will give a try to the EA Trial.

Needs to have way better performance than Heat and way better sense of speed. Other than that it looks very cool.

Heat has great sense of speed.
Ya'll expecting great sense of speed from a fucking barely tuned VW beetle in an arcade game? Cmon.

I mean, I don't feel like the camera pulls back or blurs enough, and the beetle does reach 117mph in that video which is like 180km/h... so yeah, I expect I sense of speed if a vehicle is going to almost 200km/h, whether it's a beetle or not. Or at least for the number to be real (because it is very clearly not going at 180kmh)

Starter cars never feel fast, thats the point. 180kmh is absolutely nothing in a game like this.

That's 720p footage. I think when you see legit game play...without the special effects, it will look next gen to you.

I'm personally interested in comparing it to the Matrix demo. This is the first Next Gen exclusive open world city setting...so even though it's not UE5, and it's 4k60fps... I want to see how it compares to other games and demos so far. Environment wise.

I don't see how any of these images you posted applies to the style of this NFS game besides the colored/cartoon smoke? The characters have dyed hair I guess? Like none of these crazy masks and helmets with the wild and crazy punk rock anarchy stuff you're posting from Ubisoft which really they're mostly the only ones who do it...a lot.

That said, the style effects kinda seem like an afterthought from this footage and imo, it might look more interesting if they fully committed to the stylized look. But most NFS fans probably don't want that and I think I recall them saying the effects are even optional.

Yeah that's.. that's exactly what I'm saying.

Your point is that it should feel faster at 180kmh. But I don't see why. That's literally the slowest top speed by NFS standards, it should feel slow, it's your starter car, the progression of performance is much more spectacular when the sense of speed starts off at "slow" even if by IRL standards its obviously fast. Look how NFS Heat feels at 300kmh, it has much better sense of speed that Forza or GT, despite having pretty much the same sense of speed at lower speeds as this footage from Unbound.

Hope so. Even official footage doesn't look that particularly impressive

I mean most importantly I hope that the game is good, just graphically thus far it hasn't been a noticeable step up. You're right tho, better to wait and see

I have idea how well NFS sells these days, but to get my interest it needs to go in a completely different direction, and I'm not even talking about the weird art style here.
But then again they lost me at Underground already, and I only came back for Shift and Rivals.

Hopefully the quips are optional.

This chase cam is a bit too far (GT esque). Hopefully can be changed.

Still seems like more of the same; incredible customization paired with terrible physics. Pass unless reviews say the driving is fun again.

The effects and quips remind me of Amped 3… which came out 15 years ago.

I think they should've lent harder into the anime stuff. Not quite Automodellista… but more than this.

heat sequel with some anime sprinkled on top... daytime footage looked pretty good and should pop more actually playing it ourselves. i'll give the 10 hr trial a shot but not really convinced at this point.

but the standard gate to gate last to first NFS race formula is what it is at this point.

just bring burnout back, EA.

This feels so half-committed. The graffiti-esque effects that are just… partially there. The weird looking characters. The boring looking environments. When the first stories of the next NFS having cartoon/anime visuals popped up I was ready for something far more outrageous, daring and refreshing than this. The disappointment is all on me, of course. But this doesn't look all that attractive either.

Looks like heat DLC, granted it's a low res choppy video. NFS 2016 looks more impressive but hopefully in 4K @ 60 fps w/ HDR it will look a lot more impressive. However I expected it to look a lot better when EA announced current gen only and Criterion is developing it. Also isn't Dirt 5 devs, Codemasters Cheshire helping out as well?
Maybe there will be a massive patch on the 29th, lol? I really hoped EA learned a valuable lesson with BF2042 perhaps not?

Looks like Heat but with those incredibly understated and perfunctory effects throw on top. Bleh.

Definitely. Disappointing because I've been quite excited about the possibilities of the cel shading / overlay stuff.

Anyone know if this will get a 10 hour trial on EA Play? Could be a perfect way to see if I even want to pick this up

The graphics look REALLY good here. Some excellent models, lighting and environmental detail (best trees in a racer?). Definitely waiting for impressions, but this looks good to me

I'm not a huge fan of the anime style characters they look like cheap mobile models lol, I like the car styling and the whole effects stuff though just the character models look like they're pulled from a mobile game or done last minute. Will try it out with the 10hr trial with ea play, gameplay wise it looks good.

Just bought NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered on Steam because it's dirt cheap, and finished playing a bit. More NFS games like this please.

I don't know what it is, but ever since they merged the Burnout style gameplay with NFS, that's when I completely lost interest. You can see the symptoms with the way the car drifts. It just doesn't feel or look the same as og Most Wanted.

I wish they went full Auto Modellista on this one
I think maybe they wanted to do that at first, but then studio managers (or EA) thought it won't sell good, so they kept things like characters and effects like that but changed cars to realistic models. That's just a speculation!
