Breath of the Wild trick shot defies the laws of physics and understanding

A devastating kill that traverses the entire map

Even in 2021, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the gift that keeps on giving. Today we’ve got one of the game’s leading players, Neko, showcasing a trick shot so amazing, it required ample planning and measurements to get just right.

In the video above, the footage starts with Neko atop some ruins, where they shoot an arrow out of a window. This is quickly followed by a “BTB” trick (bullet time bounce), which allows Link to bounce off the head of a Bokoblin to gain massive speed and distance. In turn, Link is shown tearing through the air at a pace that allows him to actually watch the arrow as it glides through the air.

On its own, that seems impressive enough — it’s almost like Link is tracking a shooting star. But the true spectacle happens later on, when it’s revealed that the arrow had, that entire time, a target. Near the end of the clip, the arrow finally reaches its destination and destroys a Guardian in a single blow.

The rest of the video goes on to describe just how Neko pulled this off in the first place. Using tricks like the moon jump, which allows Link to gain altitude, along with the gliding minigame — which measures distance — Neko figured out exactly where to place the arrow. The arrow travels a whopping 1400 meters, which is nearly the entirety of the map.

If this seemed cool to you, it might be worth checking out some of this intrepid player’s other trick shots, which showcase novel ways to kill Guardians. I’d also highly recommend following the BOTW trick-hunter’s Twitter feed, where they post in-progress feats that lead up to these bigger, more complex showcases.
