Shell shock!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming to DC fighting game Injustice 2 as downloadable characters next week, Warner Bros. Interactive and DC Entertainment announced today. They also gave Injustice 2 fans their first look at Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo in action with a new gameplay trailer.

Our heroes in a half-shell will play as four distinct characters, thanks to Injustice 2’s gear customization system, according to a release from Warner Bros. Here’s how that will work:

By equipping one of four accessories - swords, bo staff, nunchakus or sais - players will be able to change their character loadout to play as Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. Each will wield their own unique move sets, character powers and special moves. In online and tournament modes where specific loadouts are unavailable, players will be able to select each individual Turtle from the character select screen.

The ninja turtles will be available on Feb. 13 for players who own Injustice 2’s Ultimate Edition, Ultimate Pack or Fighter Pack 3. They’ll be available as a stand-alone purchase on Feb. 20 for $9.99.

As for how the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wound up in the DC Universe, the YouTube description offers a high-level explanation: “While in a fight with the fearsome Krang—our heroes in a half-shell were jettisoned on a one-way trip across the Multiverse.” Which makes sense.

Injustice 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

Update: NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon showed how character selection for the Ninja Turtles will work in a GIF posted to Twitter.
