UPDATE !

Terrain Undersides - 2 Million Sunblocks By Sheson and AetherSeraph9 fixes the issue with light shining through terrain. Please download their fix!

(also I recommend you disable Sunlight Fade in my mod entirely, as that was just a workaround for the issue that looks awful and impacts performance.)

There is a new version: Version 2!

In this version you can customize various options regarding sunlight fade times and the minimum angle at which to render the world lighting using the
Mod Configuration Menu!

You must completely uninstall the previous version by following the UNINSTALL instructions below, create a "clean save", then install the latest version.

The older version of the mod is still available in the Downloads section, titled: "Sunlight Alignment Tweak - Classic"

There is also a barebones version that is exactly the same as the PS4 version: "Sunlight Alignment Tweak - Basic"
This version only includes the alignment tweak and does not require any DLC, MCM or F4SE.

DESCRIPTION

Aligns the exterior world lighting with the sun and moon and allows the game to cast shadows at shallower angles. Includes a script that automatically reduces shadow intensity at sunrise and sunset for a more realistic environment.

This mod essentially does for Fallout 4 what this mod did for Skyrim/SSE.

REQUIREMENTS

The Newest Version Requires F4SE and MCM (if you wish to customize settings).

The Classic version of the mod only requires Far Harbor and Nuka World DLCs, nothing else.

The Basic version only requires the basic game.
INSTALLATION

Simply download and install with your mod manager of choice.

Place SunLightAlignment.esp as low in your load order as possible, even below your weather mods.

UNINSTALL

1. Go inside of an interior and wait for at least one real-world minute.

2. Save and Quit. Then uninstall the mod with your mod manager.

3. Done, resume playing.

CAVEATS

Unfortunately unlike Skyrim, the Sun lighting in Fallout 4 is not occluded by mountains and terrain, so there may be areas where god rays will clip through hills and mountain ranges.

In fact the main reason there is a script to reduce the shadow intensity at dawn and dusk is to remove visual glitches where the sun casts shadows from objects while it is behind a hill or mountain range.

Nevertheless, the clipping is mostly unnoticeable with most weathers unless you are actively looking for it.
