How long to beat God of War Ragnarok? It all depends, with a standard playthrough or 100% completion yielding wildly different answers. Not to mention the new Valhalla DLC means the game techncially lasts as long as you want to play it. Overall though you'll probably be in the Nine Realms somewhere between 25 hours to well over twice that.

Valhalla aside there are plentiful quests, favours, treasure maps, collectibles, secrets, optional bosses and more in God of War Ragnarok. As a result there's plenty to do even if it's not all essential. Let's take a look at God of War Ragnarok's length and time to beat below so you can work out how much space to give it.

God of War Ragnarok's length will vary entirely depending on how much you want to do. The open nature of the story, levels and activities mean depending on what you want to complete, the differences can be quite big. We've broken that range down as follows:

  • Just story: If you power through just the main story, God of War Ragnarok will take 25-30 hours
  • Standard playthrough: Completing the main story while dabbling in a few extras and more along the way takes about 30-35 hours
  • 100% completion: Doing everything in the game will take around 55-60 hours+

Ragnarok is a pretty broad game, hence that range of completion times. Following the story alone will be a lot quicker but you are probably going to experience less than half of what the game has to offer. But, on the other hand, if you set your heart on trying and open all of the God of War Ragnarok Nornir Chests or find every one of the God of War Ragnarok Ravens say, expect to be playing for quite some time.

There's also a lot left to do once the story's complete. Without spoiling too much not only is the game still playable after the God of War Ragnarok ending, but there's several areas, extra content, side quests and challenges for players to engage with. A lot of that larger play time is from the content accessible after the story.
