From the manufacturer

Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum RGB Tunable Gaming Mouse

The high performance, premium build quality, advanced gaming features and incredible comfort of G502 combine for a truly exceptional and highly customizable gaming experience.

Advanced Optical Sensor

G502 comes equipped with the PMW3366 optical sensor with zero acceleration, smoothing, or filtering across the entire DPI range (200-12,000DPI). That means you get exceptional tracking accuracy and consistent responsiveness no matter what sensitivity you set the mouse to.

On-the-Fly DPI

Add even more control to your game with quick DPI shifting from low to high sensitivity. Use the thumb button to transition between headshot-precise low-sensitivity targeting to lightning-fast high-DPI maneuvers. Cycle up and down through as many as five DPI settings with a click. Three DPI indicator lights tell you which setting you are on. Program these DPI settings with Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) or use the default settings that work great out-of-the-box.

Dual-Mode Hyper-Fast Scroll Wheel

Unlock the scroll wheel for hyper-fast continuous scrolling to spin quickly through long pages, or lock it down for single click precision scrolling. The weighty, metal wheel delivers confident, smooth and satisfying control for either mode.

Tune to Your Specs

A wide variety of weight and balancing configurations, custom RGB lighting, 11 programmable buttons, on-the-fly DPI shift settings, desk surface tuning and more. Personalize G502 for your gaming setup and style with Logitech Gaming Software.

Game Ready Details

In addition to the core performance and personalization features, many details were thoughtfully designed: Look for primary buttons rated to 20 million clicks with mechanical microswitches, braided cable with hook and loop cable tie, rubberized grips, magnetic weight-cavity door, and more.

    First Year Review
    4 out of 5 stars
    First Year Review
I have always been a Logitech fan. They have been my go to for my mouse and keyboards since I built my first computer in 2008 and before. This is my fourth mouse from them (MX512, G9, and G9x being the three prior) so I might reference them in this review. tl;dr - Scroll wheel isn't balanced, ruining free scroll. - Wear and tear seems to be happening faster than my previous mice. - I have no doubts this mouse will last me at least 5 years. It is a quality product, just not as quality as previous Logitech mice I've owned. The Bad: When I first got this mouse there was one thing that annoyed me to no end and it has not changed. The mouse wheel is not balanced well at all. Prior to this mouse, if it was an option, I always let my scroll wheel be free. I could scroll quickly and stop on a dime with my G9/x mice. The fact that the button to swap between free scroll and non was on the bottom of those mice was not a problem as I never used it. With this mouse I'm happy it's on top, as I have to continuously swap between the modes. If you scroll down a paper in Word or a web page and stop, it seems a good 80% of the time the wheel will move a little when you lift your finger. This translates to the page often moving down 1/4th a page. If you're trying to read something that is infuriating. The right side of the scroll wheel has worn down very quickly. (see picture). This is where I tend to rest my middle finger as I use that for both scrolling and the right click. If you do the same be warned. For reference, I have a friend who also has this mouse and his has not done this; despite owning it longer. He uses the three fingered approach. Looking back my G9x has a similar patina to it in the same spot, but the wear is noticeably less even after using it for 7 years. The first foot of the cable on the mouse side is slightly starting to fray from rubbing on the side of my desk. Once again comparing this to my G9x, it is noticeably worse. If anything this is what is going to kill this mouse. I still see it holding up for a good five years. I just expected better from Logitech. The Neutral: Coming from a G9x, a rather small mouse in comparison, I've had to adjust from more of a claw grip to a palm grip. This isn't a big deal. I don't have the largest hands and if you wanted to claw grip the mouse buttons do extend into the mouse a good distance and are still usable without any extra force. The side buttons are oriented more for a palm grip in my opinion. On the note of the side buttons, specifically the sniper button, it was fun for the first couple of weeks and I haven't used it since. I use to use a very high DPI but have since moved down to 800. Which essentially negates the use of the sniper button. When I did use it, I found that the extra grip I had to put on the mouse to keep the button down messed with my aim. I'm sure you'd get use to it, but I find this button worthless for what it is marketed as. The Good: This mouse has what I come to expect from a good Logitech gaming mouse. Many of the features I love from the G9x are still here. I enjoy being able to customize the weight of the mouse, there are a number of programmable buttons, easily accessed DPI changing on the fly, and I can see this mouse lasting me a reasonable time for what I paid for it. I haven't delved too far into the software. Sadly my keyboard is older (G110) so I can't color coordinate my mouse and keyboard. I don't really mind as RGB isn't really a big deal for me. Conclusion: In recent years there have been many gaming mice that have similar features to this one. I chose it because Logitech hasn't done me wrong yet. This may be the mouse that makes me look else where. That hinges on one factor though, how long the cable holds. It seems to be fraying at an alarming rate. My G9x does have one small area that is worse, but for the most part that cable is a lot better and I used it daily for a little over 7 years. The only reason I purchased a new mouse was the buttons on that one were going. My G9 and MX512 have never had issues. Though they were relegated to secondary mice after 2-3 years of daily use each.

First used Razer Naga Hex which i really hated for its weird shape and the senor that makes the cursor move around on screen when you play music on high volume.. then i got Razer Deathadder Chroma which was my current when i got the G502

The deathadder chroma is good but i didnt like that the keys are easy to press down and also the scroll wheel feel low quality and it feels that at some point i will click it and it will just break, the sensor was good and very responsive with no tracking issues.

Now with the G502 Proteus Spectrum, i thought to get it for the cons i posted above about the Deathadder Chroma, but damn i am grateful i did buy it their are a lot of other good things in it that i only noticed after i started using it.

      Pros:-
      - The sensor is really good better tracking than my Deathadder Chroma, lil bit more accurate although it feels a lil bit slower, like i used my DA Chroma mostly at 1800 DPI which is the default, the G502 default is 2400 DPI which is lil bit faster than my DA 1800 DPI but when i tried to use 1800 DPI on my new G502 it felt slower than what i used to, so i left it at 2400 and it seems tiny faster than how i am used to but nothing you cant get used to, still tracking freaking good and i loved how accurate the aiming is with this mouse while playing The Division
      - The weights:: i never used mouse with weights before my Naga and my DA didnt have that and usually when i used a heavy mouse at my friend's i didnt like how heavy its or that what i thought, but when i got the G502 i thought okay for a change i will try to put all weights and try it for couple days. After playing with it for couple hours actually i like how heavy its, first it makes you dont feel the pulling weight for the cable like with my DA the cable used to drag the mouse for a tad after i remove my hands off it, but with the G502 heaviness it just doesnt move at all after i stop it also in very fast action in The Division i loved that the weight makes the left distance shorter because its not lite like the DA its heavy so when i left it up to move it to the center on my SteelSeries QCK+ its still so near to the mousemate
      - the first thing i did was to only select one profile since i am not really a fan of switching between profiles, but i left the DPI keys as the default, it seems about right for me, i am always at the second stage which is 2400 DPI sometimes increase it to stage 3 but not that much. all keys feel really good and very responsive
      - The wheel: oh god!! that wheel is a freaking bless specially with the free scroll key, you just press it and turn the wheel and that thing just keep on scrolling down till you stop it it wont stop by itself that easy, the only thing here free scrolling up seems a lot slower than free scrolling down but its no a big thing, the wheel feels nice also and you can feel how good quality its with the metalic feel

      Cons:-
      - The software is a lil bit confusing and i hate the idea that till now i couldnt find anyway to restore "on mouse memory" to defaults, lighting, Profiles, and DPI, there is no way to switch them to defaults, again i am talkign to mouse memory profiles, if there is away Plzz let me know.
      - When you scroll normally whith the scroll wheel, talking about very short scrolls like one tick, it feels to move distance more than it should because the tick must finish you cant stop it mid way, not a big deal also

Overall i will still give the mouse 5 stars, best mouse i ever used.

Seriously, this is one of the best mice I've ever had the pleasure of using, let alone owning.

      Notes:
      - First off, the packaging is typical of Logitech, near perfect for quick and easy access to start using your new product.
      - The weights come in their own case so that if you happen to only need 1 or 2 you can keep the others safely locked away in a case for easy future access.
      - On the subject of the weights, the design in the well under the mouse is incredibly well designed. The cover pops off via a magnet and the slots on the inside are tight enough to hold the weights securely, but not so tight that you can't get weights in or out with just a simple pop of a corner.
      - The shape of the mouse fits your hand like a glove and couldn't be closer to perfect without going super ergonomic or customized to your hand size.
      - All of the buttons are super responsive and highly satisfying to press right down to the mouse speed toggles.
      - The mouse speed toggles allow for up to 5 settings (more than enough in my opinion) and a precision button on the side of the mouse is fashioned so that you can easily toggle from any speed to the lowest immediately.
      - The precision button is far enough out of the way that you can pick up the mouse without accidentally hitting it, but is close enough that you can hold it and switch between precision and speed on the fly without really thinking about it.
      - A button labeled the "G-Shift" button allows for customized programming in the mouse's software or it can simply be used as another single button to your arsenal.
      - The software is easy to use, easy to install, and just a tad on the edge of feeling simple, yet advanced for higher customizations.
      - As is common with a lot of higher end Logitech mice, there's a toggle for the mouse wheel to free-spin or click-spin traditionally. This is especially for web browsing with a smooth wheel versus clicked scrolls that slow down movement.

Now for the not so great points:
      - The mouse wheel is metal, thick ridged, and a little hard to get a grip on without applying more force than one might typically be used to applying on a mouse wheel. (This can be easily adjusted by a little mod work such as buying a mousewheel of similar shape like the G900 or G500 mouse wheel bay, just google "G502 mouse wheel mod")
      - The mouse cord is just a little shorter than I'd personally like and I honestly feel Logitech could benefit from taking a page out of SteelSeries' book by offering multiple cords with different lengths. That or just include maybe another foot or two on the length as Corsair has done with their recent M## series.
      - There seems to be a little bit of a wiggle noise when the mouse is unclicked into free-spin that takes some getting used to hearing even through headphones. I've since gotten used to it, but initially I was disturbed quite often because I was not used to hearing a noise coming from my mouse other than clicking.

All of that said, if you like a thin mouse with the capability of ranging from "feels like a toy" to "feels like heavy hardware" then look no further, you've found your new best mouse ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars best mouse I've used in a while

Owned it for almost a month and I'm still configuring it to how I play. Noticed a massive difference between using this and a lower tier gaming mouse worth the investment if you're going to be putting the hours in with it. Would be overkill for just desktop usage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Mouse!!
Reviewed in Canada on March 7, 2019
This mouse was the second mouse I bought for my desktop computer, and I absolutely love it. It was a massive upgrade from the cheap gaming mouse I previously used. The DPI settings with it can be changed simply on the mouse, which is perfect for what I need it for, whether it's gaming for doing work on my computer when I need to browse my computer quickly. The sensitivity is great, and even greater with a mouse pad. The build quality is amazing and feels amazing in my hand. It allows for any type of grip on the mouse, and the buttons are perfectly placed, and I never have any trouble hitting them when I need to and I rarely ever hit them on accident. By far, my favourite feature is its infinite scroll wheel. It is so useful!! I can scroll through hundreds of pages of any document or cells in Microsoft Excel with just one slight flick of the scroll wheel, and the weight of the wheel, even when using the locked mode, is amazing. Along with that, the weight of the mouse is perfect, not being too light or too heavy. The variable weights that it comes with is a very nice feature for those who want a lighter mouse, but I usually go for the full weight with all of them in the mouse. My last mouse was a clunky piece of metal and was much too heavy and rugged for my liking, but this mouse has an amazing feel and the shape of it perfectly moulds to my hand. I would recommend this mouse to anyone and everyone who needs one for any reason. It is amazing!!!
