This is only the second QLC (quad level cell) NVMe PCIe M.2 to come to the consumer market. It comes from a joint development project between Intel and Micron. It is superior to the Intel 660p, which uses the same QLC memory, because is has 1GB of RAM per TB of storage. The Intel version only has 256MB regardless of storage size. This means that it remains responsive with heavier workloads than the Intel version. On my own tests it happily managed 1,800MB/s Read/Write speeds on sequential loads. This is more than enough for use as a primary drive in my laptop.
The only reported downside of this SSD is that as it fills up to capacity it will slow down. This can be mitigated by leaving unused space for something called 'over provisioning'. This basically leaves a portion of the SSD empty to be used to improve the longevity of the drive and maintain high performance. I formatted the drive to 800GB capacity leaving ~130GB for over provisioning. This may seem like a waste to some but I always over provision about 10-20% of the space on all my SSDs. This is because I want them to last a long time and not slow down.
My laptop boots up in seconds, logs in and has all applications running in no time at all. The SSD has ample capacity for all my applications, documents and music. It was easy to install but required reinstalling Windows and all software from scratch because I couldn't clone the old drive (no way to connect it up). All in all a good value consumer SSD and a worthy upgrade to modern laptops that often only have 128GB SSDs installed.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 July 2019Capacity: 500 GBVerified PurchaseSSD PRices in general at the moment are in a very good place for the consumer, i have a rule of £10-12 per 100gb with SSD storage. This SSD not only met with my rule but exceeded it as it is also an NVMe SSD, While it doesnt boast the fastest speeds compared to the likes of Samsung 970 etc it certainly makes up for that in value, When i bought this it was £3 more than a standard sata 500gb SSD. I have used Crucial on and off for years back in the days of DDR 2 ram when i had to get my dad to order me parts. so i had no issue with the branding.
I had 1 small issue and that was with the device not being detected by the motherboard but this was fixed after a format using an adapter once formatted it showed up straight away. this was more likely an issue with my motherboard as it was a cheap motherboard i purchased on ebay
I would reccomend this item to anyone after an m.2 SSD who has NVMe Support
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 September 2019Capacity: 1 TBVerified PurchaseNice drive, i did not think i will like qlc, but this is a great drive for its price. Micron counts reliable, i personally own an mx 500 sata, wich works well too, and had great price/performance in its time. MX 500 is much bigger and has metal case, and runs much warmer than this little PCB.
pro: price/space,
price/speed
sec speed while the cache last
no need cooler
cons: budget m.2 speed, even a high-end sata can outperform in real life,
if the large cache runs out (10GB++) it shift to pensioner write speed,
QLC-which we do not know how bad yet
it can be write full only 200 times, but still lasts 10-15 years for average user
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 May 2019Capacity: 1 TBVerified PurchaseThinking back to when I once bought a 3.5" HDD featuring 250MB for £249.99 and was pleased about it... the fact I just bought a 1TB m.2 SSD which is about the size of a folded playing card puts things into perspective.
Installation is easy - you slot it in the m2 slot and a screw holds in the other end. I thought it was a bit mean that the screw wasn't included in this product hence the dropped star on installation.
Crucial's website features software to clone the existing HDD onto this. You then remove the old HDD and you're ready to go. I cloned a 1TB drive to this so the size was identical. One note of caution - it is difficult to keep the existing HDD in when you install this as it uses UEFI rules about which device boots. I removed the old HDD in the end, but I suspect if I put it in now it would be okay and the system would know to boot off the m2 device.
In terms of performance, so far so good... I used this to replace a 1TB 7200 SSHD (hybrjd) on an i5 laptop with 20GB RAM. The results have been amazing - Windows 10 takes 3 seconds compared to maybe 15secs, but the real difference is once you are into Windows there's no waiting for everything to work. It's also a lot more lightweight which may appeal.
I really recommend this device - if it fails of course it fails big (there's no sectors to recover) but if you have a good backup strategy it should be fine. There is an argument for having 2 storage devices.. OS on SSD and data on physical spinning drives, but that adds weight - you just have to ask if it's worth it or not.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 November 2019Capacity: 1 TBVerified PurchaseThe drive is small and fiddly to install but once installed it is lightning quick. Don't use the recommended software to transfer your operating system to the new drive as it's awful. It doesn't cope well when transferring data from a bigger HDD, it's unbelievably slow (took 2-3 hours to run) and it frequently crashes. Download a free tool like Minitool Partition Wizard instead, which coped much better and completed the transfer in under an hour at the first attempt. Now that it's installed and fully up and running, it's probably the best upgrade I've made to my computer in terms of overall performance..

3.0 out of 5 stars Delivered Product was defective, and the replacement works great.
Capacity: 2 TBVerified PurchaseThe product I received did not work as intended. The SSD shows up in BIOS but not on the OS (not visible on Disk Management or Storage Spaces). Did nearly every possible fix on the internet, no luck. I contacted the Crucial support staff. The technical team is based in the United States, so replies were taking a day each. However, they were considerate and helpful. After verifying that the issue was with the SSD and not the motherboard, they directed me to a service center, where I got it replaced within half an hour. The replacement is working as intended. Great performance. All said and done, the original defective piece I received was perhaps a one-off, and the replacement lives up to expectations, so I would recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 2TB NVMe M.2 storage for the price!
Capacity: 2 TBVerified PurchaseI picked this SSD up when it was on sale for $180.99 and was an incredible bargain for the price. While it might not be the absolute fastest m.2 ssd on the market (on the contrary I think it's on the lower end of the spectrum), I'm convinced you're getting by far the most capacity per dollar spent here when sold for that price. Nearly every 2TB NVMe M.2 is $200+ so get the jump on those deals when you see them. Also, depending on your applications, I feel like there's a diminishing returns in noticeable performance with faster speeds. I use this SSD as my gaming drive and the load times are so impressive that paying more for faster seems like it'd be gratuitous. Though, that's just my opinion.
Now, prices have been steadily going up and as of me writing this review, I want to say the price has climbed to over $210.00. At that price range, you can probably find another 2TB ssd with faster read/write speeds for the cost. I'd almost bet on it. In fact, at that price range, I can actually say I would not recommend this and to shop around. But, IF you can find this again for the $180.00 price range, do yourself a favor and grab one. Great SSD from a reliable, respectable brand at an unbeatable price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Qualidade e velocidade de leitura

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, silent, and 2TB, what more can you ask for?
Capacity: 2 TBVerified PurchaseIt might not be the fastest in every review but the speed it delivers is still phenomenal compared to regular SSD, and your old HDD are in the rear view mirror eating smoke. 2TB in an M2 for this price is crazy. For the money this is just outstanding performance and size together in one package, I'm really happy with it. recommended A+.
