CES 2023: Asus ROG introduces the world’s first 540Hz gaming monitor

ASUS ROG isn't quite done with its CES 2023 announcements yet. Today, the company has pulled the curtain on two upcoming gaming monitors – one focused on delivering the fastest refresh rate possible at 540Hz, and the other being a 27-inch QHD/240Hz OLED display, the exact kind of monitor many have been waiting for.

Based on new esports TN (E-TN) technology, the ROG Swift Pro PG248QP is the world's first 540Hz gaming monitor. This new technology delivers 60% faster response times than standard TN panels, allowing monitors to support incredibly high refresh rates. The 24.1-inch screen has FHD resolution and comes mounted on a stand with retractable and locked claws that free up space on your desk. The monitor has a G-Sync processor that includes an Nvidia Reflex Analyzer controller to measure end-to-end system latency and a built-in ESS DAC to boost the volume of the audio.

The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM is the first ROG 27-inch WQHD OLED monitor, featuring a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time. To reduce reflections without affecting colours, Asus has used an anti-glare micro-texture coating on the screen. This monitor also features Uniform Brightness to keep the illuminance level even, and DisplayWidget Center to change the monitor settings using your mouse via a dedicated interface.

To help reduce OLED burn-in, Asus developed a cooling system with a custom heatsink solely developed for the monitor. Internal airflow has been improved by growing the top air vents as heat is evenly dissipated across the monitor's rear, resulting in the average temperature being 5% lower than similar monitors. Moreover, the monitor offers consistent luminance for each pixel by controlling the amount of voltage applied to it thanks to the Intelligent Voltage Optimization algorithm. This results from the work done by ROG and the panel maker to determine the correlation between OLED brightness, voltage level, and temperature.
