The teaser trailer for Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” film was a smash hit with a report today indicating it generated 89 million views in the first 24 hours of its debut.
The spot debuted Friday during the first quarter of Game 4 of the NBA Finals on ABC before being released on various social media platforms. The figure includes the 19 million views from those watching the NBA Finals.
That surpasses the views for teasers for “Captain America: Civil War” (61 million), “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (55 million) and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” (52 million).
However it is behind Marvel & Disney’s top launch, the “Thor: Ragnarok” teaser (136 million), and the biggest overall trailer launch to date which was the “IT” teaser (197 million).
In related news, “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman has posted a photo of himself on the set of “Avengers: Infinity War” with co-star Mark Ruffalo.
