The article presents a study that aimed to define the house dust mite (HDM) allergens that
bind immunoglobulin E (IgE) from patients with scabies. The study used nine purified or
recombinant HDM allergens to measure antibody-binding activities of IgE, IgG1 and IgG4.
The authors suggest that epitopes with useful immuno-modulatory properties can be defined
by understanding the environment or genetic interactions in allergy and asthma.
