That's exactly why I stay in my own solo public lobby. In case anyone doesn't know how to do this on the PC:

Step 1: Open Windows firewall.

Step 2: Click on advanced settings.

Step 3: Click on outbound rules.

Step 4: Select new rule.

Step 5: Select port.

Step 6: Select UDP + Specific Remote Ports (and then enter 6672)

Step 7: Click on Block The Connection.

Step 8: Check All 3 on the following page.

Step 9: Give it a name (Like... "freeeeedddooommm")

RESULT: Smooth PRIVATE lobby... every... single... time with no issues. Been having it like this since August of last year, and I'm pretty much on at least 3-4 times a week. Also, if you need to go in a public session for whatever reason, simply follow steps 1-3, and then in the middle list, click on the name you gave your setting in step 9 above, and click on "Disable Rule". When you're ready to go back to a private lobby again, simply click on "Enable Rule". And no, this is not against R* policy.

Oh yeah, one more thing, you can also invite your friends into your private lobby as well with this method and they can benefit too. I do this with my son all the time. :)

Stay safe.

It does not work for me :/, maybe because i have static IP and NAT:Open

i just use a lag switch...been using it since crate days when i want to be alone.

Shameless individuals man...

You see people complaining about players who do their CEO/biker work in solo lobbies, Calling them 'pussies' or 'no lifers' and whatnot.

Yeah, I wonder why they don't want to be in lobbies with players like that. The ones making those remarks are usually script kiddies or the kill whore tryhards. You know, the people who take the game so seriously they fantasize about a goddamn number next to their username, ugh.

My condolences to anyone that has had anything like this happen. My IRL friend built a PC a few months back. He got a copy of GTA with a 1,000,000 shark card. Days later while playing he blew up someones car while going for a bounty. Long story short, he had his money drained, rank reset and shortly after he was banned. He got rid of the game the next day.

I recommend reading the comments on the video in the OP, if you want to lose a little more faith in humanity, and pour yourself a cold glass of Clorox while your at it.

Discord were mentioned in this topic, I heard it was a reason to be banned as well, because the anticheat gets triggered at this.

That's old news and was never proven.

It was thought previously banned members were being detected again as the Discord was using a port that was used by a mod menu, but nothing was confirmed and it no longer happens.

Not saying this is what happened but it sounds like your friend was spending modded money and or had hack's although it is probably just because of money because they only care about modded money. I had a friend who bought a ps4 account he had them set everything the same as his other account but with a slightly different name and a bunch of money. Rockstar ended up draining his money and reset that account back to 0 and it was banned. He went back to using his other account but that sounds about like what happened to your friend. I don't think his account would be banned for any other reason though. They don't play around when it comes to their money.

Ofcourse i can use lagswitch, but to use it i need to load in any public session. When i was testing method from @ajheadshot777 , my 1st session was with player named Cheater_YouTube. I guess its really dangerous to play in online right now. Also i heard what changing MTU in PS4 settings not allow to join players with any other MTU than yours, may be we can do something similar on PC

Nope, whoever told you that was talking porkies. R* don't want you having the money period. Spending it will get you flagged. What you should of done is, left it, opened a ticket on the support pages and asked for it to be removed.

I have yet to see any example or proof of outfits being modifiable from another client.

I can see how it could be possible, but again, I have yet to see it actually be achieved.

It's really a shame this spread to PC menus. I'm sure some form of anti-cheat will come up shortly (though the effectiveness of it is likely to unfortunately be poor). With the way this stuff works, they'd have to rewrite a lot of how the game works in order to patch the method itself. What they'll likely try and do instead is just implement more anti-cheat methods to prevent the mods from being used as a whole.

For those who really don't want to be effected by this just play privately until it dies down or gets patched. You're bound to run into it at some point with how much this is being spread it seems. And for those worrying about bans, as far as I can tell it's not something they can detect and even if they had been previously, I'm sure they stopped due to the number of people being effected by this.

Hopefully Rockstar finds a solution. This is too big of a problem to ignore.

Yeah, no joke! Loaded into GTA Online last night to see how prevalent the cheating was; and yeah, it's pretty bad--and I've only been "gone" from the game for a couple of weeks or so.

First two sessions were quiet ('just' text chat about money drops); but noticed as I was loading into the third, that the "swirl" load icon was very laggy.

Turns out (within seconds of spawning into my garage), my character was having $50k increments added directly to their bank account--not as cash(!)--no visible cash bags dropping, no sound of money pickups. Just a creepily quiet "+$50,000" every second standing in my garage...FFS.

Hightailed it out of there for a new session. Never seen that before since I started playing in Oct. '14; summer 2015 was bad, but I'd say this is definitely worse, because it's more subtle and you have little warning it's happening to you; here's some brief footage:

If R* hasn't figured it out by now, they need to stop pretending that all their attempts, bans, and "improvements" to their "anti-cheat system" does anything but temporarily slow down the cheats. It's been over two years on the PC now, and it's clear it's going to get much, much worse.

That feature is form last-gen ?

Hospital Bill ?

It is still in the game. I killed someone in passive mode a few days ago on PS4 and I had to pay the hospital bill but only a few hundred dollars.

I've had a few pangs of regret about always lagging myself out so I can play online by myself, in peace and quiet... but after this thread, I'll never have any more. It's now a required defensive measure, not just an optional one for pacifist pussies like me who dislike human conflict. LOL

It's all Rockstar's fault for not protecting us, for not protecting their game and for not protecting their server database (which is where all our game data is stored). They are the reason why I lag out and play alone all day. They are the reason why I probably make twice as much income as I would if I had to play with griefers, hackers and cheaters.

A modder messing with you will not get you banned. He had to have either had money given to him that he spent or had hack's of his own. I have a custom built computer that I got from Ironside a while ago. I put GTA on it. I only use my New computer for having anything to do online now and set up my old one to do single player mods. I have run into plenty of hackers/modders in my time playing gta 5 on PC and . they have given me money which I had rockstar remove they have messed with my character and even my rank which I had set back to normal by rockstar. I mean heck, the other day I ended up with a dildo on my head swords and boxing gloves for hands and a sprinkler shooting water out of my crotch and I have not been banned because I was not the one using the hacks/mods and I have not had any ill-gotten money.

Any platform is full of dickheads, if not cheaters it would be jet griefers, guns in passive glitches, teleport glitch and more other ways to ruin your gaming expirience. People will ALWAYS try to f*ck you up you know ? Platform doesnt really matter.

These last days it was a bit crazy on PC, months ago I could stay for 2 Hours in the same session without meeting à single script kiddie, but this last week...

-sk teleported himself to me on a rooftop, I killed him twice, then he teleported me on Mount Chiliad

-another session, I spawn in Maze Bank West, a UFO is attached to my head

-another session, I spawn in my yacht, I'm immediately teleported with all other players in Fort Zancudo.

Thanks I'm connected via Ethernet cable, so I can pull it off if something goes wrong(money bags...)

But it does matter. It's easier on PC to just alt+tab and open a trainer or a mod menu.

OT:

PC gamers: Hey Rockstar, there's a risk of rank manipulation in public sessions. Modders can change your rank and take millions from your bank account. Is there anything you can do about it?

Rockstar: Say no more fam, new adversary mode available now.

I still haven't seen anyone mention their outfits changing either, all that I know is the information on how to do was recently discovered or released, so it's something to be mindful of in the coming days and weeks.

Lots of replies, so I'll put them in a spoiler.

I'd be surprised if R* don't have a strong legal recourse here.

Hacking in GTA IV was annoying but would have been hard to directly attribute a financial impact. Here someone is selling a tool that can add GTA $'s and thereby depriving Shark Card income from R*. Much as I'm no fan of micro-transactions, that's theft by strict interpretation. What's more the perpetrator is advertising their illegal activity on YouTube. I'm would think that R* could get a court order for Google and the ISP of the user to reveal the culprit's real life identity.

Yes, I'd want to know what would happen if, for example, Trading Standards got involved or a legal case was made for one or more of the following reasons:

1) Game purchased for the intention of using with GTA Online and a banned account (as a result of someone else's actions or your account is ever hacked) with no chance of appeal could be construed as throwing the purchase price of the game away. Of course, Rockstar Games could argue the purchased entity was "Grand Theft Auto V" but you can't get GTAO without GTA V;

2) Money was spent on in-game services (shark cards) which had then been depleted as a result of these malicious cheaters; or

3) Causing stress and aggravation over having to restart the game constantly due to being crashed by other players, making it impossible to play the game properly.

Thanks to you Gaffa for bringing it to all our attention. Have you reported this to R*? They may not be willing or able to do anything but I think it can't hurt to drop them a line.

I was hesitant to create a thread at first, but thought it for the best. I'll be speaking to them about several things tomorrow, and if I can't speak to anyone with an IQ over 100 I'll be requesting something more.

What I suggest everyone to do is enter the invite only session and take a video showing your money, your rank level and outfits. Maybe properties - just in case.

They audit money accounts and transactions extremely badly. Everytime something breaks at the R* side and you make a support ticket - they want some kind of video evidence from YOU!

Great advice. It's nonsense that Rockstar Games require evidence from the user - if I contacted the police and told them my phone was stolen, I don't think the first thing they'd ask for is proof of ownership. Maybe I'm wrong and the whole world is going soft.

Modders are now able to add money directly into Maze Bank ;/ Some idiot added me more than 3 000 000 x.x I DO NOT NEED ANY TROUBLE so this is making me very angry. Just went into public lobby for a second after playing golf :/

That's correct too - at a value of $50,000 at a time. In less than 30 seconds you will have already made several million. I believe it uses one of the methods Rockstar Games awards players with.

Don't ever fear receiving money if you haven't solicited it and are not the one doing the cheating yourself. If it was me, I'd probably make a video recording where I voiced my concern about just being given all that money, but opening a support ticket is generally a waste of time (as money sweeps will happen automatically, eventually). The only good thing about opening a ticket is that if anything was to happen to your account access, you could make the complaint that you'd already covered your back and that there was online proof of that.

But I get told all the time "support agents are mostly there to deal with technical issues" and even then they don't seem to do a great job.

One should really press Rockstar to bring the CEO and biker options to invite-only lobbies because of this issue.

Yes. If nobody at head office thought that was up for consideration in the past, it certainly should be now. Even if that could only be "enabled" until v1.40, it would at least give people an extra option in the meantime.

But FWIW, the fake bounties they were putting on players last winter (PC as usual) did absolutely nothing--not sure if they've found a workaround to give these cheats any teeth since then(?):

Yes, bounties can also be put on players freely through mod menus, however the most you can get from any bounty is $10,000. Even if it states the bounty is for more than this, it's just a visual thing and won't actually award you with anything over 10k.

What they'll likely try and do instead is just implement more anti-cheat methods to prevent the mods from being used as a whole.

Ditto, all I know is it's possible and could be coming in a few days/ weeks/ etc - just more of a warning about the possibility mostly.

And anti-cheat developments are absolutely laughable. I had a moan at the end of July 2015 I think it was, and we're approaching two years on...

Can they target you when you join a race from invite only?

If you're playing with other players, you can be affected.

Thanks I'm connected via Ethernet cable, so I can pull it off if something goes wrong(money bags...)

Unfortunately, things like money and rank sync in real time, which means once you've got it, the only way you can get rid of it is by contacting support (or spending it, if it's money). I've received just $10,000 once (5 x $2,000) and even though I pulled the ethernet cable out without any further delay, upon joining another session the money was still there.

I would be cautious over spending sprees though, as I'm under the impression your expenditures are logged.

Im sure R* will turn off hospital bill very soon (just like with car insurance fraude) and what can go wrong if you will get lvl 8000? Hackers cant decreace your lvl so you are almoust safe. They can't keep turning mechanics of the game on and off like a switch, simply because they fail to address the issue by solving the problem. In the last update (or v1.38), the "dinput8.dll" injector was added to the list of things to check and thus, if you've got that in your game directory and attempt to join online, you'll usually be told you can't as your game version is modified.

Furthermore, if one of these menu users sets your rank to 8000 - what's to stop you joining another public session where someone sees your rank and reports you twice for exploits? If three players did that, you've gotten an extra 6 reports to your name over something you didn't do.

I've no idea the authenticity of this report, but I would still be cautious.

"So, there's this new thing going around the modding community that forces high ranks on to people, even going beyond the originally believed 250 mark, with some people being leveled to level 2000+. Now, this has caused panic in the community, as it not only ruins the fun of ranking up, but also imposes a huge risk of getting banned. I, in fact, have a mate who was leveled up from rank 50 to 2561. Shortly afterwards, he was permanently banned from Online."

I am not totally sure if this is how it works but from what I have read and seen in-game reporting is basically just for bad sports points and really that is all. Kind of like when you commend a player to help get bad sports points off him.
