‘The Predator’ Delayed, Targets Summer Success

Published

on

Shane Black’s battle with The Predator just got significantly delayed. Twentieth Century Fox has shifted the release from its February 2018 slot all the way to August 3, 2018, a half year later than originally slated. An early August slot is a confident one, pulling it out of late winter release and putting it at the tail end of summer blockbusters. Many films perform well in August, implying this is a potential confidence booster.

Edward James Olmos recently joined the Predator cast, which includes Boyd Holbrook, Room breakout Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Alfie Allen, Yvonne Strahovski and Olivia Munn. Jake Busey also has a role, following in his father’s footsteps.

The movie once again features unsuspecting humans who slowly realize that fierce hunter-aliens are in their midst, this time in what could be a suburban setting.

Black is directing from a script he co-wrote with Fred Dekker. Production is underway in Vancouver, Canad as of this writing.

‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’ Heads Home to Digital in One Week

Published

on

A box office powerhouse, director Adam Wingard’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has raked in $547 million at the worldwide box office since its debut in theaters back in March, and we’ve learned this morning that the Monsterverse mashup is headed home next week.

You’ll be able to own Godzilla x Kong on Digital beginning Tuesday, May 14!

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sees the legendary Titans Godzilla and Kong team up to face a world-ending threat so terrifying that neither of them could survive it alone.

Meagan wrote in her review of the new movie for Bloody Disgusting, “Wingard continues the kaiju spectacle with the latest Legendary Monsterverse crossover event, this time injecting an even greater sense of adventure and silliness. It’s the type of epic-sized popcorn movie that unleashes nonstop monster brawls and tongue-in-cheek humor in equal measure.”

Rebecca Hall is back as Dr. Ilene Andrews with Brian Tyree Henry also returning as Bernie Hayes, and they’re joined in Godzilla x Kong by Dan Stevens (The Guest, Abigail).

Adam Wingard (Godzilla vs. Kong) directed Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which features a screenplay by Terry Rossio (Godzilla vs. Kong, Pirates of the Caribbean) and Simon Barrett (You’re Next) and Jeremy Slater (“Moon Knight”), story by Rossio & Wingard & Barrett.

“This latest entry in the Monsterverse franchise follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
