Others were less impressed. Twitter user TheHiddenOneAC described the Attack on Titan crossover as “a complete waste of time,” arguing that most of the quest boils down to repetitive climbing and swinging along poorly designed routes.
They also complained that the sequence lacks any real Titan combat, noting that previous series entries let players take on gods, mythical beasts, and dragons — expectations the crossover failed to meet.
Echoing that sentiment, TheHiddenOneAC called the cutscenes “atrocious,” especially when compared to the mocap-driven sequences in Valley of Memory. Similarly, Ac_landmarks criticized the inconsistency between Mirage’s high-quality mocap storytelling and what they described as an inferior offering in Shadows.
TheHiddenOneAC also voiced frustration about the post-quest reward, claiming a pop-up prompts players to purchase the themed outfit from the store rather than granting it outright.
Another user summarized the experience bluntly: “It was so bad.”
“The Assassin’s Creed franchise exceeded our expectations”: Assassin’s Creed Shadows is “overperforming” according to Ubisoft, and is expected to reach a broader audience soon with a Nintendo Switch 2 port.
