Ubisoft has unveiled a surprising in-game crossover between Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Attack on Titan. The seasonal event runs from Nov. 25 to Dec. 22, 2025, and arrives alongside a free story drop for Shadows.

According to Ubisoft’s announcement, a peculiar encounter pulls Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest: a strangely attired woman named Ada asks them to venture into the Crystal Cave — a location rooted in Attack on Titan lore — to rescue her friend from a secretive cult. The quest explores forbidden rituals, bizarre experiments and a monstrous adversary, and is available to any player who has unlocked Yasuke. Players can begin the mission northeast of Yamashiro, the game’s second major region.

The trailer repurposes the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan as the Crystal Cave — the very site where the Reiss family historically inherited the Founding Titan’s power before Grisha Yeager’s arrival. The footage concludes with the apparent captive undergoing a Titan transformation, looming over Naoe and Yasuke.

Completing the quest grants an exclusive katana and several collectible items hidden in chests throughout the area. Additionally, purchasable Attack on Titan item packs will be offered in the store, featuring a Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke, a Mikasa outfit for Naoe, new weapons and a Survey Corps mount.

This update also introduces the game’s third free story instalment, titled A Puzzlement. Lighter in tone, the quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke while temporarily exchanging signature abilities: Naoe gains a dramatic variation of Yasuke’s war kick, and Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, the chapter adds an environmental puzzle that may illuminate unresolved threads from Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ main narrative.

Assassin’s Creed has previously crossed into anime territory — notably in 2020 with a cross-promotional storyline between Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Makoto Yukimura’s Vinland Saga. There was also an unmistakable nod to One-Punch Man within Valhalla, noted by coverage at Kotaku.

For more on the earlier Valhalla collaboration, see Ubisoft’s announcement: Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla — Vinland Saga. Coverage of the One-Punch Man reference is available at Kotaku: One-Punch Man reference in Valhalla.
