We finally have clarity on the expedition rewards in Arc Raiders: permanent extra stash slots and additional skill points, temporary XP multipliers, and a small selection of cosmetics — including a full outfit titled “Patchwork.”
What the Patchwork outfit actually looks like, though, remains unclear. Reddit user Jiggy-Spice shared a fan-made mockup on the Arc Raiders subreddit; despite some negative replies it received, many people — myself included — find the concept appealing. It’s distinct without being garish, suits the game’s aesthetic, and wouldn’t make you an easy target by standing out in the environment.
Two competing theories about the real Patchwork design have gained traction, and one of them has provoked particularly strong reactions. Because completing an expedition is a massive time and resource sink — costing thousands of coins’ worth of materials and many hours of play — players understandably want the payout, even if purely cosmetic, to feel meaningful.
Sorry to say guys, but I think this is the Patchwork Raider skin.

The first theory, proposed by Reddit user KnightRavedraw7, points to an outfit briefly visible during the server slam — a pre-launch public stress test for Arc Raiders’ multiplayer. That version includes patch-like detailing on denim shorts and a pale-blue hoodie with pink lettering.
Responses to that suggestion ranged from amusement to dismay. Some players joked that the reward looked underwhelming for the grind; others reacted with exaggerated outrage. A few comments mocked the idea of earning “jorts” after investing so much time and resources.
The alternative theory is that Patchwork is the outfit used in the tutorial. Reddit user Turtleomertle suggested this after noting the tutorial raider’s look is never reused elsewhere. In the game’s canon, your tutorial raider departs Speranza and isn’t seen again, so it would be logical to introduce a fresh raider model as a reward — essentially the tutorial look repurposed as a cosmetic. The one caveat: the tutorial outfit doesn’t have obvious patchwork elements, so the name wouldn’t be an obvious match.
Many players prefer the tutorial-skin theory. Replies range from excitement — “I’d wear that” — to practical concerns: one commenter pointed out the outfit’s muted palette would blend into most environments, making it a potentially overpowered cosmetic if widely adopted.
For now these ideas remain speculative. The expedition reward window closes on December 23, 2025, at which point players who participated will receive their prizes and we’ll know for certain what Patchwork actually is. Until then, the debate continues.
