Embark Studios has confirmed the release date for Arc Raiders’ first major content drop — the Cold Snap winter update listed on the game’s roadmap.
On the official Arc Raiders Twitter account the studio posted a brief tease reading, “A cold snap is coming,” and highlighted December 16. The image accompanying the post shows a fallen raider amid snow. While the teaser offers no further detail, the roadmap revealed at launch in late October lets us infer several likely additions.
In addition to the snowy map effect, the winter update is set to include a seasonal event titled Flickering Flames (a suitably wintry touch), new quests, a fresh raider deck, and the “departure window” for the game’s first Expedition — effectively an optional character wipe for players who choose to participate.
Whether Embark will share more specifics ahead of the December 16 launch remains unclear, and the studio has not yet outlined its roadmap for the coming year. We’ll get a clearer picture once Cold Snap goes live and players can evaluate how Embark manages larger content drops.
