Amid Sony lawsuit over alleged “Horizon” clone, Tencent pauses promotion of Light of Motiram and says it won’t release before Q4 2027

For context, in October Sony sought a preliminary injunction — a court order intended to prevent a party from taking certain actions until the dispute is resolved. Sony asked the court to bar Tencent “from reproducing, preparing derivative works of, displaying, performing, and distributing any works copied or derived from SIE’s Horizon Works, including Light of Motiram, and from using the ALOY Character Mark or any confusingly similar mark pending trial.”

In a declaration supporting the new stipulation and proposed order, Tencent’s counsel wrote that the parties agreed to a revised briefing schedule with mutually acceptable dates and a joint hearing date for both the Motion to Dismiss and the Motion for Preliminary Injunction. The filing requests that defendants’ deadline to file a response to the Motion for Preliminary Injunction be December 17, 2025, and that SIE’s deadline to file its reply be January 2, 2026.

“The Parties further request that the hearing date for both the Motion to Dismiss and the Motion for Preliminary Injunction be reset from January 15, 2026 to January 29, 2026, subject to the Court’s availability.”

In short, more substantive developments in this case are likely to arrive in January, but for now you should not expect any new official footage or teasers for Light of Motiram.
