All the Opulent Key and chest locations in Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted

Four fan-favorite weapons from years past return and are craftable in Destiny 2’s Season of the Haunted. Austringer, Beloved, Drang (Baroque), and the CALUS Multi-tool make their return to the game after being sunset as part of Beyond Light. The only way to get your hands on these weapons — besides engram focusing in the HELM and, eventually, crafting — is through the six Opulent chests found on the Derelict Leviathan.

But in order to open these very special chests in Season of the Haunted, you’ll need Opulent Keys. In this Destiny 2 guide, we’ll go over how to get Opulent Keys and where you can find the chests linked to them.

Opulent Keys

Opulent Keys drop from activities and chests throughout the Leviathan — as long as you’re opening chests and completing the Containment public event, you should be seeing them pretty frequently. When you get one, you can hover over it in your inventory to get a hint as to which chest is its fellow. We’ve listed all six possible locations below for your convenience.

The Royal Pools

There are three Opulent chests in the Royal Pools, which you can get to by going through the large door on the left-hand wall from where you spawn into the Derelict Leviathan. You’ll know you’re in the right place because a notification will pop up that you’re carrying an Opulent Key for the area you’re in.

Here are the three potential hints and their corresponding chests in The Royal Pools.

At the feet of greatness

You can find this chest directly ahead of where you enter the Royal Pools area from the Castellum. Look to your left and you’ll find it under a statue of Calus.

Where water used to fall

You can find this chest along the leftmost wall — when entering from the Castellum — of the Royal Pools area. Jump up to the higher area and you will find it against the wall.

Among stately columns

You can find this chest along the rightmost wall — when entering from the Castellum — of the Royal Pools area. Enter the covered area on the right and it will be along the wall next to the columns.

The Pleasure Gardens

There are three Opulent chests in The Pleasure Gardens, which you can get to by going through the large door on the backside of the center portion of the Castellum. You’ll know you’re in the right place because a notification will pop up that you’re carrying an Opulent Key for the area you’re in.

Among the ruins

You can find this chest to the left of the entrance from the Castellum. Hug the wall until you see the chest — you’ll see it tucked into a corner by the large cliff.

Guarded by a loyal companion

You can find this chest straight ahead from the Castellum entrance on the left side of the back wall. It is next to a dog statue.

By fallen greatness

You can find this chest to the right of the entrance from the Castellum. Look around the area for a large statue of Calus’s head. The chest is right beside it.
